<sb0>
rjo, how did you take the nice pictures of the boards?
<sb0>
document scanner? lightbox?

whitequark: what's the less gross heapless solution?
<edef>
whitequark: like, i get that it's gross
<edef>
whitequark: and i want to not need this code
<edef>
whitequark: but i need UDP in a no_std environment
<whitequark>
edef: sure, sec
<whitequark>
sb0: document scanner works very well btw
<whitequark>
I tried it before
<whitequark>
but only for the flat ones
<whitequark>
edef: does it have to be in .data or is placing them on stack fine too?
<davidc__>
FWIW, I've taken lots of pictures of PCBs. What are you trying to image?
<davidc__>
bare boards? assembled? assemble + stripped with solder remenants (for RE)
<davidc__>
also, glamour shots or shots for seeing trace connectivity :)

should have been cleaned them but with the hot-wiring that's not really worth it

whitequark: has to be .data for a couple of reasons
<edef>
whitequark: like, I'm trying to help the researcher behind RTFM to get smoltcp going in that env
<edef>
whitequark: and in that env it's kind of annoying to have it not be on the stack

rjo, made it yourself or went to a photographer?
<davidc__>
sb0: lightbox works best for assembled stuff, or just bounce cards
<davidc__>
sb0: in a pinch I've pointed some bright lights at some large white cards and gotten acceptable results
<davidc__>
basically, you just want to avoid specular reflections, and for that an isotropic light source is best, and you can approximate that with a lightbox
