uses Falkon-git
<stikonas>
falkon indeed works a bit better than chromium on wayland...
<archetech>
I enabled opengl too
<archetech>
not basic
<stikonas>
hmm, people are actually using Linux From Scratch...
<archetech>
it's a fun build
<archetech>
Kernel: 5.11.13-1-ARCH aarch64 bits: 64 Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.21.2
<stikonas>
well, I have never built Linux From Scratch, but now I'm building Linux from really scratch :D
<archetech>
mesa 21.0-git

macc24: re: 1440p60 video.. on linux chrome/ium you probably get sw decode (I assume? depends I think on compile options).. on CrOS on qcom things there is an open bug because chrome doesn't tell the driver the correct framerate so it sets clks and icc (memory bandwidth) for 30fps rather than 60fps
<macc24>
robclark: 1080p60 video on lazor is laggy on firefox
<macc24>
i was trying to use hardware decoding, but there was only /dev/media0 pointing at the camera
<macc24>
and i don't know anything besides that... never got it to work
<robclark>
on ffox, idk.. not really sure to what degree ffox knows how to use hw video decode (let alone telling the driver the correct framerate)
<robclark>
if it is just a matter of not finding the right dev file, sounds like a silly ffox bug
<macc24>
libva-v4l2-request
<macc24>
and i couldn't find it
<robclark>
huh, well not really a video expert but surprised that libva has any involvement
<robclark>
heh, libva-v4l2-request.. nice hax there
<robclark>
I think linaro folks had gst and ffmpeg working w/ the hw decoder on qcom things.. I *think* in ffox and not just chomium
<robclark>
(not sure which of gst vs ffmpeg it was using)
<macc24>
why am i not surprised that my xeon box just died lol
<macc24>
anyway, ill try asking in #linaro
<macc24>
if it exists
<robclark>
there is #linaro.. not sure how many folks who would actually know pay attention to that channel.. you could ask ndec on #freedreno or ##linux-msm
<robclark>
or svarbanov
<macc24>
ok
<robclark>
(both of them are in EU timezone fwiw.. svarbanov is the dude that wrote the v4l driver)
<macc24>
oh nice

it may or may not be 1:24 in my timezone
* robclark
tends to be online early from a PST standpoint.. but there is a bit of a tz diff btwn PST and EU..
<HdkR>
What's a timezone? :P
<robclark>
heh, not quite sure what tz HdkR exists in other than "odd" :-P
<macc24>
my guess is "not european"
<robclark>
my guess is "all"
