Theoretically, if one wanted to reduce their render buffer size and they didn't need an alpha channel, they could render to a NV12 YUV render buffer at 1/2 the size of an RGB88 buffer.

Speaking of color, funny thing I learned recently is that most of the time objects either absorb or reflect light at the same wavelength. Flourescence is a property of some atoms/molecules to absorb light of one wavelength and emit light with a lower wavelength. We see this in the wild when looking at a white T-Shirt under a UV light that has been washed with whitening detergent as it has fluorescent dies

in it. We can't see in the UV spectrum, but the florescent dye converts from the UV spectrum to the visible spectrum. Not very useful but somewhat interesting.
