<mtsd> Hello everyone
<mtsd> Picolisp is being discussed in the #forth- channel :)
<Regenaxer> Hi mtsd
<Regenaxer> Oh, great! What are they saying?
<mtsd> Hi Regenaxer!
<Regenaxer> :)
<mtsd> They have discovered the Forth heritage..
<Regenaxer> Cool :)
<mtsd> but, (perhaps typical for Forth), seem to think the language contains too much functionality ;)
<Regenaxer> hehe, that's true
<Regenaxer> Is it a '-' at the channel's end?
<mtsd> I noticed you joined
<Regenaxer> yes
<mtsd> I think there is a log.. hang on..
<Regenaxer> ah, good
<Regenaxer> Strange attempts like ((+ -) 3 4)
<Regenaxer> mtsd, you are regularly on #forth ?
<mtsd> Yes, I am
<Regenaxer> Good thing
<mtsd> Not that I use Forth, but I find the language fascinating and very interesting
<Regenaxer> yes, same for me
<Regenaxer> I just don't want to get distaracted
<mtsd> Discovered it through Picolisp, actually. I had never heard of Forth before
<mtsd> I can try answering questions, or discussing things, if it comes up there again.
<Regenaxer> I think usually not
<mtsd> I was just surprised to see #forth bringning it up. I have not talked about Picolisp there
<Regenaxer> Forthers are probably not intersted in Lisp
<Regenaxer> T
<Regenaxer> The use cases are too different I think
<Regenaxer> I see Forth useful only for very small systems
<mtsd> True, they seem very much into their own thing. Very focused people :)
<Regenaxer> yeah
<Regenaxer> I attended many Forth meetings and soge conferences in the past
<Regenaxer> s/soge/some
<mtsd> Knowledgable too, at least that's my impression from the channel
<Regenaxer> Yes, that's sure
<Regenaxer> only enthusiasts use it
<Regenaxer> Forth gives you a lot of power
<Regenaxer> More than Lisp
<Regenaxer> So they are all power users
<mtsd> How to solve problems in Forth seems to be very much up to yourself.
<Regenaxer> T
<mtsd> Very minimalistic
<Regenaxer> extreme
<Regenaxer> and pure
<Regenaxer> it is pure computing
<Regenaxer> knowing every byte of your system
<mtsd> Forth can be run on bare hardware, right? No operating system
<Regenaxer> right
<Regenaxer> in very small memory
<Regenaxer> 2 KiB
<mtsd> That's amazing. Interesting concept
<mtsd> Sorry I got you distracted ;)
<beneroth> :D
<beneroth> thanks for the info, mtsd
<Regenaxer> yes, thanks mtsd!
