<sacarlson> that looks to be over 12 hours

<sacarlson> the stellar.db-wal file size is only 18.8MB with last change seen 17 oct about 2 hours ago the stellar.db file is now 82.4MB and hasn't been seen modified since 16 oct 6:53pm or about 17 hours ago.

<sacarlson> this is the second full database reset attempted on this version so as far as I can see this is broken. time to try another version?
<stellar-slack>
<sacarlson> my original plan to write an auto reset script will no longer fix this problem. my next planed work around attempt will be to setup using virtual static ip using my vpn service in hopes that this will at least keep it operating. but the problem with this is that my ISP is not 100% reliable so it will still fail.
<stellar-slack>
<sacarlson> the only other option I can see beyond this is to operate from a vps cloud server that already has static address but how reliable are they? and I can't afford it anyway.

<sacarlson> I just did a third full database reset and I now have sync. so it's posible I just never saw the last attempted reset recover as my ISP could have reset my IP address some time after that time to break it again
<stellar-slack>
<sacarlson> so I will work on writing my script that will auto reset an out of sync stellar-core a fixed number of times after a detected out of sync condition
<stellar-slack>
<sacarlson> the script will first attempt a soft reset then after 1 or two fails to fix after some time period it will do a full database reset. it will then do a full database reset attempts a fixed number of times after each time out period. each of these failures and attempts will be time loged. This way I don't have keep an eye on it myself
<stellar-slack>
<sacarlson> I hope in the near future my script will never need to be runing
<stellar-slack>
<sacarlson> I've already looked at the git history and don't see what I would consider a fix in yet

<jojopoper> @jed: I was in the debug PC version of the wallet, please help me to activate an account, I need to test the use of the live network. Thank you! My stellar addr:GBP23RS4PCE73ZBUBXZAKZIRUFQNJIAYKB27KQC6BVRMVMJJERLNHUAZ

<sacarlson> my hack until the stellar-core stuck problem is fixed
<stellar-slack>
<sacarlson> this monitors the stellar-core sync and will soft reset then hard reset if that fails
<stellar-slack>
<sacarlson> not fully tested. but it also logs so we should see in a few days

<sacarlson> jojopoper: so did you test your app on testnet? if it works there I'm quite sure it will work on live

<sacarlson> I was thinking I could try my hack fix by changing my ip with my vpn and to my suprize going from no vpn (thailand) to active vpn (hong kong) stellar-core got back into sync on it's own. first time I've seen that
