<joyce> @anttipennanen good stuff! Yes we should talk in detail. You guys would be a perfect pilot for kyc and it would be great to work with you and Marti!
<stellar-slack1>
<joyce> @john great points - man, you really read everything out there about Stellar:)

<dzham> late to the party, but at least from a technical standpoint, Stellar has it covered already with `AUTH_REQUIRED_FLAG`, and allowTrust

<dzham> If the issuing account has `AUTH_REQUIRED_FLAG` set, no-one can hold it’s assets w/o explicit permission from the issuer

<dzham> > Decentralized ledger protocols Next-generation decentralized transaction ledgers are a topic I’ve blogged about before, but as this is a quickly evolving field some of my “picks” have changed. I would like to call out the following projects as ones that are interesting to me today: Interledger: a protocol for making payments across different payment networks developed by Ripple Labs. between ledgers which effectively provide the same function as bitcoin exchanges but as first-class citizens within the Interledger network. The Interledger protocol is formally modeled using TLA+, also used by Amazon for building mission-critical systems. Per the paper: “Unlike previous approaches, this protocol requires no global coordinating system or blockchain.” Stellar SCP: a formally modeled distributed c

Internet-scale operation, which provides global agreement among localized “quorum shards”. SCP provides distributed transaction ledgers denominated in the currency of your choice. Stellar plans to launch a cryptocurrency called “Lumen” using the protocol.

<anttipennanen> @sirius: Martti, I think you should check out this conversation if you yet haven't! :)
<stellar-slack1>
<sirius> Check :)

<john> Morning @sirius & @anttipennanen glad things are working out between Stellar & your project!
<stellar-slack1>
<john> @steelheaddigital: welcome to Stellar! I read on your website that you're a software architect? Don't forget to join the Dev channel. Are you working on a specific project right now?
<stellar-slack1>
<steelheaddigital> @john: thanks. Yes, I do have a project in mind that involves Neighbor Market. Basically, I want to allow people to create their own currency when they set up and instance of Neighbor Market and be able to integrate with other "alternative" currencies, specifically time banks and LETS type of systems. I'm also interrested in the federation features that might allow users on one instance of Neighbor

Basically creating a decentralized marketplace based on Stellar. Something like that
<stellar-slack1>
<steelheaddigital> I'm just starting to experiment though. Am I correct in the assumption that if I create an account throught the API on the testnet I'll get "test" lumens to use?
<stellar-slack1>
<jed> yep
<stellar-slack1>
<eva> @steelheaddigital: sounds like an awesome platform. Let us know if you have specific questions about implementation.
<stellar-slack1>
<scott> yeah, that looks great. I’d love to see a stellar integration
<stellar-slack1>
<steelheaddigital> Wow, thanks for all the interest :) I'll let you know how it goes
<stellar-slack1>
<garth> @steelheaddigital: It looks like we are working in a similar space. My project has a local angle and tries to improve on the timebank concept. I believe there is a lot of potential to do some good for the underemployed. I look forward to seeing how your project unfolds.
