<bryce_> Thanks again for your help - I finally got symbiflow working and programmed the counter example onto my Arty 100T with it.
<bryce_> I did find getting it up and running challenging (to the extent that I am definitely going to have to refer to my notes when I try starting a real project with it) - For context, my bachelor's is in computer science, and I have a doctorate in engineering. I've been using Linux as my main OS for about 15 years, I have a side business doing embedded systems development for medical device prototypes, and am no stranger to things that are
<bryce_> difficult to set up. But this did absorb several hours of my life. I think it was in part due to unfamiliarity with some of the technologies being used (I really only used conda in grad school and didn't remember how it worked too well), and it must be admitted that the audience for this project is necessarily technically sophisticated, but I feel like some potential users will be lost here.
<bryce_> I wish I knew more about making packages for linux distributions... something where you can just type 'apt get install symbiflow-xc7' would be really nice.
<bryce_> *apt-get

<lambda> bryce_: my solution to not knowing anything about conda was to do just that - almost all of symbiflow is now available as AUR packages
<lambda> needed a lot more patching than usual though, not least because I can't really upstream any fixes with the CLA that's required for even the tinies changes

<sf-slack> <khanvms9> Hi everyone, I got introduced to SymbiFlow through GSOC and want to contribute by mainstreaming the internal fork used by fpga-tool-perf in edalize, but which branch of edalize does fpga-tool-perf use?
vmskhan9 has quit [Quit: Connection closed]
<sf-slack> <kgugala> hi @khanvms9 it's SymbiFlow's fork, branch `symbiflow` see https://github.com/SymbiFlow/fpga-tool-perf/blob/master/conf/common/requirements.txt#L13
<sf-slack> <khanvms9> ok
<sf-slack> <khanvms9> All those files in Symbiflow branch have to be merged properly to master branch of Edalize, crrt?
