<DMoult> does anyone here use google chrome for android? for some reason, it is behaving very strangely with all my keyboards - with swiftkey, it repeats characters randomly, and with stock it randomly stops typing then jams up. swype also produced problems. this happened both with stock ICS and with CM9. anyone have similar experiences or ideas?

<dizko> uhm
<dizko> the address bar...in chrome
<dizko> and yea it does auto complete like when you type into chrome on the desktop
<dizko> im not positive thats the issue, but it appears to be
<dizko> but swiftkey is definitely mishandling it
<dizko> cause once it starts doing it, it like refuses to go back
<dizko> although by then im pretty frustrated and just hit the x in the browser search bar and start over

<dizko> oh...does cm9 not actually flash the radio? i guess that makes this simpler
<bbqbot> derp
<Jiangyi> dizko: It doesn't.
<DMoult> dizko - it's a little strange that you experience this only in the address bar while i experience this throughout the browser, when typing in textboxes on webpages, etc
<Jiangyi> codeworkx: What did you do that broke CM10 yesterday anyways? :-P
<DMoult> and i've tried disabling all the 'autocomplete' options, but that hasn't removed this bug
<dizko> dmoult: yea as far as i can recall, ive only had it in the address bar
<dizko> its possible im wrong
maltloaf has quit [Quit: Leaving...]
<DMoult> that's what perplexes me the most; that not everyone experiences this bug
<DMoult> i had it on stock ICS, and now i have it on cm9 as well
<DMoult> so i'm not too sure what is responsible for this bug
<dizko> guess you could write the support peeps at swiftkey...its clearly their fault since it doesnt happen with other ime's
<dizko> im on the fence as to whether i prefer it anyway...at first it seemed cool but i think i need something that just takes my typing literally
<dizko> i like being able to actually force it to save words
<codeworkx> Jiangyi: tried to fix the screen flash after crt off :-D
<DMoult> dizko - i thought it was initially just Swiftkey, but then both swype and stock keyboards bugged out too
<DMoult> they were even worse actually, they caused chrome to hang entirely
<dizko> oh really? i only had it with swiftkey
<Jiangyi> codeworkx: Ah.
<Jiangyi> codeworkx: No dice in BT and FM either?
<bbqbot> derp
* dizko debates how bad an idea it is to flash this rom not too long before bedtime
<DMoult> dizko - do you also find that whenever you click on a textbox to focus on it, chrome zooms in far too close?
<DMoult> ending up in one word taking up half the screen?
<Jiangyi> dizko: Why not? What's the worst thing that can happen?
<dizko> hah...no not quite that bad
<dizko> jiangyi: worst is i pull my sim and put it in my nexus s ;)
<Jiangyi> dizko: xD
<DMoult> perhaps 'half the screen' is a slight exaggeration, but yeah
<DMoult> strange, stock keyboard is working fine now
<dizko> ive found the zooming to be to an appropriate level
<DMoult> it was definitely crashing earlier
<dizko> but i dont have anything to compare it to
<DMoult> well i'll take a screenshot
<dizko> jiangyi: this is the first custom build ive done, using d2att as a template and creating one for d2dcm (japan / docomo version)
<dizko> i just used the stock kernel source and config for that device
<dizko> any chance that will...work? ;)
<dizko> ive been unclear on whether cm does anything 'special' in the kernel, or just uses the resource configs to tweak os settings
<Jiangyi> dizko: Should be working at least partially if it's a similar device.
<dizko> that's my hope. if it books and kinda sorta works i think i can work through wahtever doesnt
<dizko> s/books/boots/
<DMoult> so this is a screenshot of what swiftkey does: http://i.imgur.com/llBtH.png
<DMoult> and this is a screenshot of how far it zooms in when i try to type in a chat box: http://i.imgur.com/srdul.png
<dizko> the repeating is similar to what ive seen in the browser bar
<DMoult> strangely enough, when i start typing it's at a reasonable size, then 2 seconds later it automatically zooms in further into that
<dizko> the zooming doesnt seem familiar
<dizko> i find typing in the browser bar to be almost impossible
<dizko> so i always just search from the home screen and let it take me to the browser
<DMoult> i guess i'm cornered into using opera mobile until this is fixed :(
<dizko> which is stupid, just havent had time to improve things
<Assid> crap.. i started to get bad at css
<dizko> Same here using stock browser (Chrome) on Nexus 7 with Jellybean 4.1.1. Problem is exacerbated by Google auto complete searching.
<dizko> yep...thats exactly my experience
<dizko> it does it in stock 4.0.4 on my sgs3 and in jb 4.1.1 on n7
<dizko> though the new search thing-of-a-jiggy in jelly bean is a better search experience than in the browser for some reason, so on the n7 ive just been using that
<DMoult> well the bug i have extends beyond just the searchbar, it affects the webpage as well
<DMoult> so i can't sidestep it by just using the searchbar on home :(
<dizko> maybe something about typing style and how it does its automagic on that can make it worse for some people

<bbqbot> derp
<Thracky> yes mardos
<Mardos> whats a good server ?
<Thracky> astraweb for sure
<Thracky> 11/month or 96/year if you pay yearly
<Thracky> I'd do the 11/month to test it out, then switch to 96/year at any time if you decide you like it
pier|afk is now known as pier
<Mardos> and when it comes to finding the files to download such as torrents how does htat work
<Mardos> ive never done usenet i got disabled from Torrentleech and im tired of sharing and shit so w.e lol need a new method
<Thracky> Mardos: I'd recommend going on an indexing site. I'm on nzbmatrix, it's a one time like 10 euro or something fee for VIP which gives you access to the whole archive.
McFrog has quit [Quit: McFrog]
<Thracky> basically you get .nzb files, kinda like torrent files in a way, but it just tells your client where on usenet the files are.
<Thracky> then I'd recommend sabnzbd for a client.
lolwat has joined #teamhacksung-support
trackz has joined #teamhacksung-support
<Mardos> ok its opensource good start i like that lol
<Mardos> so where do i find these nzb files
<Thracky> on indexing sites like nzbmatrix
<Thracky> you can also manually search for stuff on binsearch.info but that can be a bit of a pain
<Mardos> nzbmatrix $10 for 10 years
<Thracky> yea
<Thracky> worth it imo
<Thracky> there are other similar sites out there, it's just what I use
<Mardos> ok cool cool when they say connections waht do they mean by t hat?
<Mardos> and why would you need ssl?
<Thracky> generally with usenet you won't max your connection out on a single connection, so you use multiple concurrent connections.
<Thracky> SSL means nobody can snoop on what you're downloading easily.
<Thracky> everyone uses ssl for usenet heh
<Mardos> last question i promise lol what does these blocks mean i see 1000gb for $50 what does that mean
<Thracky> don't even bother with that
<Thracky> you get unlimited for 11/month
<Mardos> i wont bother but waht is it
<Thracky> you're paying by how much data you download
<Thracky> as opposed to an unlimited
<Thracky> so if you don't download much, it might be more worthwhile
<Mardos> some months i download around 80gb of movies and etc i like my hd movies with xbmc lol
<Thracky> anyways, out for lunch.
<Thracky> I usually pull ~250 gig in a month from usenet
<Mardos> hmm $11 instead of $15 nice
<Mardos> WOW
<Mardos> wtf do you do lol
<Thracky> hd movies/tv
<Mardos> i think ill do this $11 for a month to tes hte speed!
<Thracky> yeah, then if you like it do the 96/year
<Thracky> (another hidden offer, just google for it)
<Thracky> anyways bbiab.
