<rqou> i did rfid cloning using cardboard and a stellaris m4f
<rqou> sorry, no public code available though
<rqou> it's vaguely based off of the scanlime minimal rfid circuit

<azonenberg> Welp
<azonenberg> it looks like lecroy's protocol decoder for uart fails flat on its face when you do a segmented capture
<azonenberg> even if each byte is well isolated in a single segment
<azonenberg> it screws up the timebase somehow
<shellrider> thanks rqou:

<rqou> do note that the all the janky circuits are for 125kHz cards
<rqou> for the true NFC/13MHz cards, you can probably just use an android phone
<rqou> er, if you're doing the old crypto attacks, you can use an appropriate android phone or reader
<rqou> if you're doing a side-channel, timing, or some novel attack, then you need something more complicated
<rqou> i have no recommendations for that
<shellrider> no i actually was trying to clone standard proximity cards - i believe low frequnecy cards
<shellrider> can you use android to clone 125kHz ?
<rqou> no
<rqou> that's what i used a janky cardboard+wire+mcu device to clone
<shellrider> i see
<rqou> i hope you
<rqou> *you're aware of the atmel t5557 type devices?
<shellrider> any recommended tutorials on how to create that ?
<shellrider> yes
<rqou> there's this old scanlime blog post: http://scanlime.org/2008/08/simplest-rfid-reader/
<shellrider> nice thanks
<shellrider> this would clone but not replay
<rqou> um, too bad? :P
<rqou> my scope doesn't even have protocol decode
<rqou> er, it kinda does for analog video
<rqou> not that that works either :P
<azonenberg> I just thought it was funny that they couldn't get it to work

<rqou> ugh i took a nap and now it's midnight
<rqou> what do?
<awygle> Weep because you're up at midnight and have to be up at 5
<rqou> "have to?"
<awygle> Oh wait that's me
<rqou> why do you have to wake up at 5?
<rqou> Conference Call(TM)?
<awygle> Appointment at 6
<rqou> doctor?
<awygle> Yup
<rqou> ugh
<rqou> wait, there are doctors that schedule appointments at 6?
<awygle> Apparently
<rqou> bizarre morning people :P
<awygle> It's actually 630 but it's the first time so I have to show up early for paperwork
<rqou> have you tried "don't be sick?" :P
<rqou> you're going to need to try that if trump gets his way :P
<awygle> Lol/sob
<rqou> hey whitequark i have a dumb question: i need some cooling water for my laser cutter. how do i prevent algae or other crap from growing in it (so that i don't have to keep emptying and refilling the cooling water bucket)? can i just put some silver in it?

<azonenberg> rqou: chlorinating it may work, using a standard pool formulation, but idk if that would corrode whatever material you have it running through
<azonenberg> plastic tubing should be fine but idk how it would work with metal
<azonenberg> or glass?
<azonenberg> probably wont hurt glass but dont quote me on that
<rqou> yeah, there's a random shitty submersible aquarium pump involved
kuldeep has joined ##openfpga
<azonenberg> some quarternary ammonium compounds like BZK might help too
<azonenberg> but again, no idea how they'd corrode
<rqou> shouldn't silver just work too?
