It's probably been discussed, but has anyone ever thought of a pure-merge-mining chain, which would have a block header consisting only of a nonce, timestamp, and bytevector with no consensus meaning?

I'm curious what the bytevector would consist of. At one extreme of the design space it could have no consensus meaning, so just 256 bytes of whatever. Sort of in the middle it's a merkle tree with a specific layout and hash function. And at the other extreme you could have some consensus rules about the layout of the merkle tree, for example that each leaf is a (tag, hash) pair, and a tag can only appear

Also curious if it would even need a block reward. Nobody would be incentivized to mine it at first, but if at least one coin rooted its blocks in the merge-only chain, then you would be incentivized to mine it so you could claim the block reward in the sub chain.

The block interval is also an interesting parameter to think about. It could have an extremely short block interval, but then a sub chain might have a rule that a block is only valid after a longer interval has elapsed
