<customminer> sorry to hear man, make sure you're getting good sleep

<Mercosity> customminer yeah I'm an insomniac, sometimes from choice but a lot of the time just can't sleep. History of my working life I suppose, 3 cycle shifts etc.
<customminer> unlucky dude
<Mercosity> customminer I still have a problem with connections, back to 8 agin. I think it's my firewall, I use Norton and can't seem to get my head around in out rules for some reason. Driving me demented!
<customminer> keep your phone/laptop seperate from your bedroom - i find that i'll spend another hour in bed avoiding sleep if I bring my phone
<customminer> yeah? haha :P
<customminer> do you have inbound connections?
<customminer> is your ISP potentially blocking it? Try a 24hr vpn free trial?
<customminer> Or TOR
<customminer> IDK how running a node behind TOR/I2P/etc would affect the node, would be interesting to find out.
<Mercosity> customminer yeah I keep tech out of the bedroom. I don't think ISP is blocking as getpeerinfo tells me that 32749 connections are working but only limited to 6 for some reason.

<brewsmithy> . . . pretty little trees . . .
<brewsmithy> so, just as a side note - Do you think, individual projects ( like LHC or Cosmology etc ) should be given the option to offer bonus gridcoin when presenting projects for boinc'ers to run?
<brewsmithy> . . . bonus's that would pay the participating gridcoiner additional gridcoin for accepting the boinc projects first - a method for the researcher to encourage certain projects be run first?
<brewsmithy> This would do 2 things - create a market for gridcoin ( the researchers funds buying gridcoin ) and promote priority work in boinc
<brewsmithy> It would also open up a market for cloud based sales of excess computing capacity ( the boinc network ) . . . for a profit for those running boinc
<brewsmithy> The boinc operator could always choose not to participate in the for profit system, or could chose to sell their computing resources for gridcoin
Emptybeerbottle has joined #gridcoin
<brewsmithy> It might create a new use for boinc - Sell computing time to individuals and companies who want to run test programs through boinc to check viability and coding - for a low cost ( gridcoin )

<brewsmithy> customminer how do i vote for all of the above, to have a random splash screen displayed?
<brewsmithy> customminer i guess i am saying, we should maybe encourage, advertise, communicate to project admins that this is an option . .
<customminer> If you want to vote for all splash screens, you can select all the check boxes in the gui
<customminer> I think you can chain together your options via terminal/console too
<customminer> brewsmithy: Potentially, yes. Projects do however try to remain team neutral & we're a team cryptocurrency.
JuanManavella has joined #gridcoin
<brewsmithy> yes yes we are, however, since we are dealing in a currency in exchange for work done, lets do that, and promote our services are for rent!
<brewsmithy> the projects can remain team neutral and only teams interested in collecting extra gridcoin for priority work can choose to play. . . . and join gridcoin, mwahahhaaa

<Chick3nman> :P
<Chick3nman> so
<Chick3nman> back to the idea of commercial projects(of any kind)
<Chick3nman> i feel like the addition of porject rain may make it feasible AND worth while
<Chick3nman> to crunchers, that is
<Chick3nman> taking payment to add an application or workload to the project for a certain amount of time , and then turning around and distributing that payment(minus server costs or whatever is needed to maintain) as project rain to the crunchers, directly pays them for their work on said commercial porject
<Chick3nman> project*
<Chick3nman> it does introduce some issues with inequalities in reward though, since im still reading the page about project rain and im not sure it could be controlled to pay out a certain amount to each miner based on their work completed

<Mercosity> jamezz Yes when I updated the first time to anniv the system crashed completely and did a reset and I wasn't there to see it, my son did and he didn't do anything as it's mine. I lost everything, all my progs, all my passwords and steemit private key. I ran my recovery progs and got most back but not my steemit key.
<Hooker63> !usd

<jamezz> even format , fdisk etc
<jamezz> and ok will add u , n give u info u can set ur own pw
<jamezz> but above utility is how ive recovered shit 1-2-3 format's back , reinstalled windows over shit ive lost and recovered
<Mercosity> jamezz got one or 2 recuva + MiniTool
<jamezz> and i can pop it on an ftp
<jamezz> ive got an archive of a few dozen i tested , the above and EASEUS.Data.Recovery.Wizard.Professional worked
<Mercosity> jamezz too late now. Given up on it. Sick of going thru files now, but would be useful, as you know this sorta shit happens. Lastpass would be great.

<Mercosity> customminer a question for you. In getpeerinfo on my client each peer seems to have a wallet attached, but I notice that quite a few are using very old wallets.

<Mercosity> customminer by the way this is the message I get from steemit - Our records indicate that you already have steem account: mercosity
<Mercosity> You can either login to your existing account or send us email if you need a new account.
<Mercosity> In order to prevent abuse (each registered account costs 3 STEEM) Steemit can only register one account per verified user.
<customminer> Mercosity: Such is the nightmare. If we have poor communication then users don't update their client and they miss out on new features/functionality.
<customminer> Mercosity: Reverse mercosity? ʎʇısoɔɹǝɯ
<Bouowmx> ayy
<Mercosity> customminer yup I know, we gotta do something about it for sure. Jeez how you do dat?
<Mercosity> ?
<customminer> Mercosity: The email marketing idea.
<Mercosity> You f***ed with my head there!
<customminer> There needs to be a better mailing system for team founders, handling email addresses directly is a nightmare.
<Mercosity> customminer Yeah, we gotta do it sort it out ASAP. We gonna screw ourselves if we don't.
<customminer> ah shit i just noticed I left debug prompts in my live website hahah
<customminer> >1000 popup alerts
<Mercosity> customminer our problem in the EU is the spam rules and either you or I could get into a lot of crap. Ha, ha, it happens!

<customminer> Mercosity: Yeah man, the spam laws are insane - it was like $500 fine per user you send an email to, that's far too serious hah!

<Mercosity> Kickstarter earned a bit already

<Mercosity> customminer we have to find a solution to the comms problem if email isn't the solution we need contact thru the wallet. That's the only direct solution I can think of and it solves a myriad of problems.
<Mercosity> IRC thru the wallet.

<lestus> Bouowmx: that's an incredibly tounge twisting name ..
<Bouowmx> I went to some random name generator and got this
<Bouowmx> I don't even know how to pronounce it
<lestus> lol nice, i was gonna ask how you came up with it :p
<Mercosity> apc messenger was the windows update for the original version which came with DOS. Based on the UNIX version and ported from there via CPM.
