<pie_> how would something like this fare lol https://dberard.com/home-built-stm/
<pie_> oh shit i didnt remember the images being this good! https://dberard.com/2015/11/08/coarse-approach/
<Noxz> found my digikey order that was lost that I reordered yesterday... slipped behind the mailbox fence next to my recycling bin
<pie_> lol
<Noxz> $10 order, nothing major, but it was 'lost' for like 2 weeks
<Noxz> I did snail mail so I figured it was just slow getting to me
<Noxz> after a few eeks I got worried
<Noxz> this is for my espresso machine ;)
<pie_> ohno :O 2 weeks without espresso?
<Noxz> I have a hack
<Noxz> .. a light switch rigged to it
<Noxz> for the pump
<pie_> haha
<sync_> gold is pretty forgiving for imaging pie_
<sync_> semiconductor shits is significantly harder
<sync_> http://sync-hv.de/projects/BA/147-24.png this is 50/50 SiGe on Si(111) and one of the best images I could get after a few hours of messing with the afm
<SpeedEvil> :)

<Noxz> i blew the ass out of a zener
<Noxz> fak
<nmz787> so now you really have no espresso?
<Noxz> hah, I had it installed, and it seemed to work.. then nce I put the cover and junk all back together it did not seem to work anymore... and while fidling with it, stupid me had it plugged in, and some wires cross
<Noxz> shorted out the FET
<Noxz> and killed the zener that turns the thing on
<Noxz> looking up diode and such assortments on amazon right now
<Noxz> weird I dont have kits :/
<nmz787> andddd that's why a few weekends ago, after hours of research on machines, I bought an aeropress for coffee... totally dumb and manual, but coupled with a double-wall vacuum boiler, I am making coffee/shots faster than before with a single-shot espresso machine
<Noxz> ;)
<Noxz> I'm going to be making my portafilter bottomless/naked shortly
<pie_> sync_, oh.
<pie_> shit though thats 2 um

<Noxz> alright, zener diode came in, got the machine 'working' again...
<Noxz> pump runs continuously, which the circuit I made was suppose to not make it do that, I wonder if something else fried when the fet fried.. good thing I got my backup order in today!
<Noxz> I dont want to make the circuit again though, fml
<pie_> lol
* pie_ pats Noxz
<Noxz> I have the components to try again, at least the machine gets power now
<Noxz> and stuck in a 5W zener over the 3W.. ahtlugh 1w would have worked
<Noxz> fuckit, rebuilding it because likely faster than trying to pull off a dead transistor

<Noxz> k.. version two installed
<Noxz> plugged in, and no running motor (seemingly working)
<Noxz> I have not turned on the power yet, but the motor used to run when plugged in
<Noxz> and yeah, the npn that was using the amped signal pushing ~16v into the FET died on the other board
<Noxz> the new version was done MUCH better ;)
<Noxz> going to just let it sit there for a moment, and if I hear the motor start to turn on, then I know something else is triggering a failure
<Noxz> I took a pic of the new version compared to the old one but it is no longer in my phone for some odd reason
