<victorbjelkholm>
gozala, yeah, js-ipfs runs in the browser as well
<atenorio[m]>
does anybody knows how to track progress in that issue? I have not found it at github

G'day everyone, quick question: is is possible in ipld to have a 'merkle' link to an ipns key, and if so does pinning something with such a link follow the mutable ipns link?

ianopolous: no mutable links in ipld
<lgierth>
the mutability layer is on top
<ianopolous>
lgierth: thanks
<lgierth>
you'd lose the verifiability
<lgierth>
who knows what the ipns link pointed to when you first built the structure? :)
<lgierth>
you can certainly have non-link ipns paths in the structure and use them to update the structure

<lgierth>
oh come one pinbot...
<ianopolous>
lgierth: i get that they're mutable, but it'd be nice to have a way to pin something which can point to mutable things and have it pin whatever they point to at point of invocation

Hey, I'm here to find out more about IPFS and how it might apply to the Climate Mirror project. We need to store a lot of data redundantly and reliably while being able to validate the authenticity of it.
<Ani>
What benefit would IPFS have over, say, BitTorrent?

DokterBob, we just had a meetup, I'm sitting with brodo hacking on IPFS right now if you want to come here with us

<DokterBob>
Wow. Neither hall 4 nor pingpong rings a bell. ;) Will you guys be out there for a while?
<lamarpavel>
victorbjelkholm: Too bad there was no talk, I think the lightning-talk last year put IPFS on the radar of lots of people (eg. me)
<victorbjelkholm>
DokterBob, yeah, we'll be here for a while :)
<victorbjelkholm>
lamarpavel, yeah, I think we submitted some talks, lgierth might know more about that
<DokterBob>
Cool. By the way, you guys have any idea how to discriminate the start of a chunked file from a chunk (i.e. how to discriminate partial from full files)?
<lamarpavel>
victorbjelkholm: I think some talk as not accepted and lots of IPFS devs didn't get a ticket
<DokterBob>
(It's related to ipfs-search.com - I'd rather not index partial files - which I currently explicitly skip on file size 262144)

hsanjuan, could you write down some quick instructions for how to run the current ipfs-cluster? Tried to follow the readme in the devel branch, but didn't get very far, just got the server to run but didn't understand how to run any more nodes
Encrypt has quit [Quit: Quit]
<hsanjuan>
victorbjelkholm: ok will do
<hsanjuan>
You run other nodes the same
<hsanjuan>
Just add them to the config
<victorbjelkholm>
hsanjuan, ah, didn't see how, would be good with some written instructions, met a guy who wanted to try it out
<jbenet>
hsanjuan: may be useful to record a short demo, like 1-2min of setting a small cluster up from git clone, and pinning something.
<hsanjuan>
Yep, i agree its not well doc'ed now
<jbenet>
doesnt have to be super nice, but i think a video would reaaally help people get going. cluster setup is one of those things that's non-linear, so harder to write good linear docs for.
<jbenet>
mostly non linear because of having to deal with multiple terminals
<hsanjuan>
@jbenet probably even best to prioritize node autodiscovery and dynamic add/rm
<hsanjuan>
Should simplify setup a lot
<hsanjuan>
But ill give another round to docs nevertheless and see about the vid
<DokterBob>
victorbjelkholm: so... hall 4... how do I find you?
