Hi. So I'm playing with IPFS right now ... and I have a question: If I `ipfs name publish <hash>`, I will publish something in this hash and if I re-do this with new content, the hash will stay the same and I can "update" my content? is this correct?
<musicmatze>
So, I can host my website in IPFS and update it via this mechanism?

<musicmatze>
And via the "key" mechanism, I can have multiple keys and with this I can have multiple websites, so to speak?

Also: Is there a way to "follow" a ipns name? So that I always fetch the newest version behind a certain ipns name and keep it locally in my cache?

<victorbjelkholm>
musicmatze: only way right now would be to poll once every X minutes. Otherwise you could use pubsub to publish updates, then everyone subscribing gets the update
<victorbjelkholm>
Or use both, pubsub to tell subscribers that something changed and then get content via IPNS
<victorbjelkholm>
and yes, your understanding about IPNS above is correct
<musicmatze>
victorbjelkholm: thanks a lot, that helped! :-)
<musicmatze>
I'm starting to host my personal blog via IPFS and wanted to make sure I understood things correctly

hmmm, the links do not get rewritten, which breaks the whole idea -.-'
<r0kk3rz>
musicmatze: you need to use relative links
<musicmatze>
I generate the blog with hugo, and it seems that hugo expands all the links
<r0kk3rz>
i think you can tell it not to, im sure other people have posted to ipfs with hugo

When clients of listening to the same resource are in fact located
<melvster>
physically close, they could exchange patches through other medium like
<melvster>
patches, making the original HTTP server unnecessary
<melvster>
- The system can evolve (under stress) to work entirely with distributed
<melvster>
wifi or bluetooth.
<melvster>
- The patches could be combined with hashes of versions of folders to be
<melvster>
the basis for a git-like version control system, or connect to git itself,
<melvster>
etc

Man, I really need to write an ipfs pastebin
<SchrodingersScat>
isn't it already kind of a pastebin?
<pjz>
well, sure, but I need a web-enabled one
<pjz>
and then free pinning for a day or something
<SchrodingersScat>
oh, i see, sure, i guess
<pjz>
and max size
<SchrodingersScat>
on my tahoe nodes I used to run a 3 day garbage collection, worked pretty well, didn't clutter up and 3 days is more than enough normally, 24 hour news cycle, etc.
<pjz>
well, sure, but I have an ulterior motive
<pjz>
since I run a pinning service too ;)

Hi all I'm interested in the transport layer spec of libp2p, and struggle to find a unified interface for both go-tcp and js-tcp, like there does not seem to be a Dialer equivalent in the js implementation... Any pointer to docs or explanations ? thanks

SchrodingersScat, 5001 is API, 8080 is HTTP2IPFS gateway
<SchrodingersScat>
I thought that the webui was an ipfs item though, so would that need the gateway?
