<BenLubar> is there a way to see which nodes downloaded a file hash from me? (ipfs dht findprovs only shows my own node even though I can see the file on public gateways)
<BenLubar> `ipfs swarm peers | wc -l` is showing 600+ despite HighWater being 80
<lordcirth_> BenLubar, are you sure your node is accessible from the outside?
<BenLubar> lordcirth_: yes, because the files do eventually show up on public gateways and bitswap stats are updating
<BenLubar> my node is at /dnsaddr/ipfs.lubar.me/ipfs/QmRWvGqZPFzWMQWpkdRXXRtwMx56oKoizen2PaSLeZDgLH
<lordcirth_> BenLubar, but you could have an outbound connection to the gateways, over which they pulled the data.
<lordcirth_> Ok, I can ping you.

<lordcirth_> BenLubar, how many does "ipfs stats bitswap | grep partners" show?
<BenLubar> 218
<BenLubar> (I have `watch ipfs bitswap stat` running in tmux)
<lordcirth_> Why set HighWater so low? I think 600 is the default
<BenLubar> I was having a lot of trouble with connection attempts timing out because my router ran out of slots in the NAT (for some reason, DNS requests fill 3 or 4 slots)

<jon1012> someone knows a good asyncio lib for ipfs? (I know py ipfs is far from ready yet, so with go-ipfs I guess)
<jon1012> I've found aioipfs, but it's GPL licensed, and my project is MIT so can't use it:(
matth has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
<lordcirth> jon1012, Just curious, why is your project MIT?

<lordcirth> oops, got disconnected there. Did I miss a reply?
<jon1012> nope, no reply missed :)
<jon1012> because I want it as open as possible
<jon1012> plus, I think that libs should be at most LGPL, not GPL

<devalot> I just discovered IPFS and I love the philosophy behind it. I'm running a node now, but I'm a little concerned about other people storing nefarious content (i.e. child porn) on my node. Do other nodes push content to my node, or do I have to pull the content I want?

<Voker57> devalot: it's like torrent, you only share what you want
<devalot> Voker57: Ah, okay. So I only share what I've previously cached.
<devalot> That's great to know. Thank you.
<lordcirth> (unless you enable being a relay)
<BenLubar> do relays host content or do they just proxy connections?
<lordcirth> I'm not sure. But it would still be "helping" the content you're worried about.
<Voker57> latter
<devalot> So, in my config I have "DisableRelay": false, Does that need to be true then?
<BenLubar> I think DisableRelay affects whether your node will *use* relays
<devalot> Ah.
<lordcirth> Yes, being a relay and using them is separate
<lordcirth> relays are used to help bypass NAT
<devalot> That's the only relay string I see in my config right now.
bedehomender has joined #ipfs
appa has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]
<devalot> It looks like I would not want to use EnableRelayHop.
<lordcirth> Yes, that's the one that makes you a relay. Which would also (greatly?) increase bandwidth usage. I would love to enable it but my internet is slow and falling over already.

<devalot> Is there a command that will show you what content you have locally?
<lordcirth> devalot, you can list pins with ipfs pin ls (warning, huge output)
<BenLubar> I suggest --type=recursive so you don't get an entry for each block of data
<devalot> lordcirth: Thank you.
<lordcirth> Yes, recursive is good
i1nfusion has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<lordcirth> however, I think recurse won't show anything that you pinned that is only 1 block? Not sure
<BenLubar> yes, pins are recursive by default (direct pins also exist but I don't think any command implicitly adds them)

<BenLubar> ipfs repo gc deleting local copies of files in mfs sucks
<lordcirth_> BenLubar, shouldn't mfs be pinned?

<ToxicFrog> The pin on the root node is (or at least should be, and was on my install) recursive, though, so the transitive closure of stuff referenced by the root node should also be pinned
