i am confused if i am writing a libreelec image on Macbook but i want it to run on RaspberryPI4 do i chose the image Libreelec-RPI4.arm-9.1.502.img.gz or the LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-9.0.2.img.gz
<aleksandrdvorkin>
i rewrote the RPI4 image now on Macbook not on UBUNTU and again after power OFF it wont boot
<aleksandrdvorkin>
it boots for the first time but as soon as I shut off the power to RPI4 it wont boot
<aleksandrdvorkin>
i am going to try another SD caRD but i suspect it will do the same thing

<mack->
you are shutting the Pi down before you kill the power, right? And you might check your power supply is strong enough, also.
<aleksandrdvorkin>
now i chose POWER OFF SYSTEM within Kodi or LIbreELEC then i press the buttons on rapspberrypi4
<aleksandrdvorkin>
to start it again and it wont boot
<aleksandrdvorkin>
ofcours i wait till it shutsdown that is the screent reboots
<mack->
did you built a power button for the Pi? They don't come with one.

<aleksandrdvorkin>
its canatakit it came with Power switch
St3ak has joined #libreelec
<aleksandrdvorkin>
anyhow i tired writhing the image in Ubuntu dont boot after the initial boot
<aleksandrdvorkin>
i tried writing ON MACBOOK boots first time after the Power switch OFF DOEASNT boot
<mack->
the inline switch is what I'm seeing on canakit. Is that what you're using?
<aleksandrdvorkin>
yes i have to use to power the system ON after I shut down LibreELEC
<aleksandrdvorkin>
yes it inline switch
<mack->
what I would do in no particular order: try another SD card, try another power supply, try it without the inline switch.
<aleksandrdvorkin>
how would i power the Raspberry PI 4 on without the inline switch
<mack->
like everyone else in the world does by plugging the USB cable into the power port.
<aleksandrdvorkin>
ok that will power the RPI4 box on but how would turn the OS system on or make it boot
<aleksandrdvorkin>
it boots to the NOOBS for example when i press the switch
<mack->
the raspi boots as soon as it gets power.
<aleksandrdvorkin>
what about LibrELEC
<mack->
if you're writing a LE image to the SD card, there is no NOOBS
<aleksandrdvorkin>
i know
<aleksandrdvorkin>
i am giving an example
<aleksandrdvorkin>
i have NOOBS on another SD cArd
<aleksandrdvorkin>
so what i am saying is that i shutdown NOOBS using software and THEN i press the button on and INLINE switch to restart the RPI4
<aleksandrdvorkin>
now i do the same for LibreELEC and it wont boot
<aleksandrdvorkin>
so you are saying that i should remove the inline switch
<aleksandrdvorkin>
that way to boot the system i will have to unplug and plug back iin the power cord
<mack->
at least for testing purposes, yes
<aleksandrdvorkin>
ok unpluging the inline switch
<mack->
I have no clue what that inline switch is doing electrically.
<aleksandrdvorkin>
does not boot either
<aleksandrdvorkin>
but always boot for the first time after writing
<aleksandrdvorkin>
and the power of with LibreELEC Power System down
<aleksandrdvorkin>
start
<aleksandrdvorkin>
doesnt boot
<aleksandrdvorkin>
tried two SD cards bothe brand new
<aleksandrdvorkin>
tried writing in UBUNUTU and on MAC
<mack->
anything on the screen on failed boot attempts?
<aleksandrdvorkin>
nothing
<mack->
on your first boot, are you changing resolution or timing for the display, then failing the next boot?
<aleksandrdvorkin>
no just configrue the SMB and SSH and then shutdown
<aleksandrdvorkin>
wondering if i am writing the righ image
<mack->
how long have you let it sit on a failed boot? (Is it performing disk resize or filesystem check before it displays anything)
<aleksandrdvorkin>
i rebooted now 5 min ago and still black screen
<mack->
if you have a Pi4, the RPi4.arm image is the right onw.
<aleksandrdvorkin>
ok
<aleksandrdvorkin>
and do i have to write it on RPI or doesnt matter
<aleksandrdvorkin>
like i am writing it on My Macbook
<aleksandrdvorkin>
but i can try wruing it inside the NOOBS on RPI4 maybe?
<aleksandrdvorkin>
no i cannt
<aleksandrdvorkin>
RPI4 has only one SD cArd slot
<mack->
was going to suggest trying previous stable image 9.0.x, but archive.libreelec.tv isn't responding.
<aleksandrdvorkin>
i have a question maybe i am corrupting the image by inproper shutdown
<aleksandrdvorkin>
because the light online switch stilll on after i shutdown through LibreELEC interface
<aleksandrdvorkin>
should wait and see if the system shutdown actually happens after the light is OFF?
g0tcha has joined #libreelec
pmart has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<aleksandrdvorkin>
and then press it again to start the system
<mack->
That was my question about proper shutdown :) No clue how the switch behaves. You could watch the LEDs on the Pi. On the earlier ones, the link LED on the ethernet port would go off when it shut down. Would require ethernet be plugged in, though.
<aleksandrdvorkin>
becasue i noticed that the screen turns black very fast aftr powedown but the light on inline switch is still ON when I press to Power ON the system
<mack->
my guess is the switch power indicator would stay on until you switch it off.
<aleksandrdvorkin>
ARE you SURE
<aleksandrdvorkin>
LET ME TRY TO BOOT TO nOOBS AND power down and see if the switch light stays on
<mack->
no, I just said my guess. I have no experience with those switches
<aleksandrdvorkin>
after power down
<aleksandrdvorkin>
let me check
<mack->
there are activity LEDs on the Pi itself (at least there are on the previous versions)
<aleksandrdvorkin>
yes like Network lights
<aleksandrdvorkin>
and they are off
<aleksandrdvorkin>
i just powerd off the NOOBS
<aleksandrdvorkin>
and the light on the POwer SWITCH IS on
<aleksandrdvorkin>
SO I start the system while the light on inline switch is on
<aleksandrdvorkin>
but i turn the switch off
<aleksandrdvorkin>
and then press to turn it ON again
<aleksandrdvorkin>
and NOOBS boot fine
<aleksandrdvorkin>
but not LIBREELEC
<mack->
Pi 4 has two HDMI ports, doesn't it? Did you try the other one?
<aleksandrdvorkin>
no
<aleksandrdvorkin>
why do i have to switch the HDIM port cable
<aleksandrdvorkin>
it boots fine to NOOBS from HDMI0
<mack->
LE isn't Noobs. It might be looking for the other port
<aleksandrdvorkin>
I already posted on LibreELEC fourms the responce from moderator was something like PSU power supply unit and to Power OFF the LIbrEELEC properly
<aleksandrdvorkin>
well switched to HDME 1 now still black screen
<mack->
PSU is very likely from description. As I also suggested. The one you got in the kit is likely rated high enough, but that doesn't mean it really is. They're Chinese crap power supplies, after all.
<g0tcha>
is there a place to see the changes made in LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-9.1.502 ?
<aleksandrdvorkin>
is there a file befor 9.1.502
<aleksandrdvorkin>
i can try
<g0tcha>
aleksandrdvorkin, are you having problems wit 9.1.502?
<aleksandrdvorkin>
yes
<g0tcha>
pi4?
<aleksandrdvorkin>
doesnt boot after the initial boot up
<aleksandrdvorkin>
doesnt boot on the secopnd power on attempt and so on
<aleksandrdvorkin>
yes and PI4
<g0tcha>
ok.. interesting.. i have different issues with mine
<g0tcha>
no sound and resolution is stuck at 1024x768
