I'd like to have a dual boot option to keep the preinstalled Android 9.0 (on eMMC) and a LibreELEC or archlinux on a SD/USB device.

Just FYI about recent lack of UART prompt on H3 OrangePi Zero Plus2 I have found a simple fix for that:

add /bin/sh < /dev/ttyS0 > /dev/ttyS0 2>&1 to .config/autostart.sh (don't forget to chmod it)
