<aleksandrdvorkin> what is correct format for the SD card shoujld be to write LibreELEC to it
<lrusak> aleksandrdvorkin, doesn't matter
aleksandrdvorkin has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds]
aleksandrdvorkin has joined #libreelec
<aleksandrdvorkin> my diskutil list
<aleksandrdvorkin> says my SD card looks like this
<aleksandrdvorkin> FDisk_partition_scheme
<aleksandrdvorkin> Windows_FAT32_32 536.9 Mb
<aleksandrdvorkin> linux 15.6 GB
<aleksandrdvorkin> is this correct partitioning for the Libreelec
aleksandrdvorkin has left #libreelec [#libreelec]
aleksandrdvorkin has joined #libreelec
<aleksandrdvorkin> Windows_FAT_32 536.9 MB disk3s1
<aleksandrdvorkin> Linux 15.6 GB disk3s2
<aleksandrdvorkin> this is just to boot to Libreelec
<aleksandrdvorkin> or should i repartition it
<aleksandrdvorkin> i dont understand what is on the Windows 536.9Mb partititon
<aleksandrdvorkin> i dont need it
<aleksandrdvorkin> i just need to boot to Libreelec
<aleksandrdvorkin> and it fails to boot after power off
<aleksandrdvorkin> i think my partitioning is wrong
<aleksandrdvorkin> what is the command to partition the SD card so i can write Libreelec to it
<aleksandrdvorkin> anyone
<vpeter> When you install LE on sd card it creates 2 partitions. So your layout is correct.
<aleksandrdvorkin> i want to reformat it
<vpeter> Write LE image again on it.
<aleksandrdvorkin> i want to delete that windosws_FAT_32 LIBREELEC partiton
<aleksandrdvorkin> and have a clean partition
<vpeter> Or use SDFormatter or some other utility to format it to only one partition.
<aleksandrdvorkin> is there and SDFormatter for Mac?
<vpeter> No. But there is probably some other partitioning utility. Delete both partitions and make one only.
shibboleth has joined #libreelec
<vpeter> But no idea how to do that on Mac.
<aleksandrdvorkin> ok formatting using SDFormatter on Mac
<lrusak> you can just format using disk utility
<lrusak> but you shouldn't even have to format the device to reflash a new image onto it
<aleksandrdvorkin> ok but that Windows partition stays on after rewrite and i want to delete it\
<aleksandrdvorkin> and use dd to write the image on newly formated SD card
<lrusak> you need 2 partitions to run libreelec
<lrusak> 1 windows and 1 linux partition
<lrusak> so the partitions you listed look correct to me
<vpeter> lrusak: He has a problem with "fails to boot after power off".
<vpeter> And trying to fix.
<aleksandrdvorkin> but Libreelec doesnt boot after power off
<lrusak> so it only boot's once?
<aleksandrdvorkin> i wrote a different image today
<aleksandrdvorkin> yes it only boots after wrting
<aleksandrdvorkin> and then stops booting after power off
<lrusak> which image are you using?
<aleksandrdvorkin> i so far used two imagesw
<aleksandrdvorkin> images
<lrusak> for raspberry pi you have to actually unplug and replug the power if you power it off
<aleksandrdvorkin> i use Raspberry PI4
<aleksandrdvorkin> and it has inline switch with power button
<aleksandrdvorkin> i tried the 502 and 501 images
<aleksandrdvorkin> dont wor
<aleksandrdvorkin> work
<aleksandrdvorkin> now going to write the 002 image
<aleksandrdvorkin> and see if that works
<lrusak> what actually happens when you try and power on? just a blank screen? can you see the lights on the RPi turn on?
<aleksandrdvorkin> this RPI has only the Network light
<aleksandrdvorkin> and no more lights
<aleksandrdvorkin> i can see it go down on shutdown
<aleksandrdvorkin> and turn on on POWER ON
<aleksandrdvorkin> and then a Black screen
<lrusak> can you access it via ssh?
<aleksandrdvorkin> i can only boot to NOOBS on different SD card
<aleksandrdvorkin> have not tried accessing it via SSH ater black screen
<aleksandrdvorkin> i will write the 002 image and see if i can ssh into it
<lrusak> it would be interesting to know if it's actually no on or if there is just no output
<lrusak> gotta run, bbl
<vpeter> Unplug power supply, wait a minute and plug back doesn't help?
<aleksandrdvorkin> tried it yesterday
<aleksandrdvorkin> even removed the inline switch
<aleksandrdvorkin> nothing
<aleksandrdvorkin> now going to write an older RPI4 image
<aleksandrdvorkin> the 002 and see if it will boot
<aleksandrdvorkin> still after format it Windows_FAT32_LIBREELEC 16.1gb
<aleksandrdvorkin> how do i format it to a Linux format
<aleksandrdvorkin> not FAT32
<vpeter> For LibreELEC you will always have 2 partitions. One FAT32 and one EXT4.
<aleksandrdvorkin> ok
<aleksandrdvorkin> then i go on and write the 002 on it
<vpeter> It is nothing wrong with this. You have some other issue.
<vpeter> On first boot you see some message about resizing storage partition. Do you see this. And after that it reboots and you see Kodi?
<mack-> aleksandrdvorkin: Pi 4 has two status LEDs on the board... power and activity.
<aleksandrdvorkin> its inside the box
<mack-> take it out? not a hard concept :)
<aleksandrdvorkin> ok
<mack-> it looks like the canakit pi4 case has a ventilation gap along the top. You shouldbe able to see the LEDs in a dim environment
shibboleth has quit [Quit: shibboleth]
<aleksandrdvorkin> its hard to remove it from that case now
<aleksandrdvorkin> if i opne the case should i be able to see the lights
<aleksandrdvorkin> are they on the side where the network is
<aleksandrdvorkin> k opened the case
<aleksandrdvorkin> k booting first time witth 002 image
<aleksandrdvorkin> green light is flashing rapidly
<aleksandrdvorkin> now stays on
<aleksandrdvorkin> not booting
<aleksandrdvorkin> green light is flashing
<aleksandrdvorkin> not bootung even from first time
<aleksandrdvorkin> green light is flashing
<mack-> if you read the troubleshooting document I linked yesterday you know that the number of flashes is important and what they mean.
<aleksandrdvorkin> 002 didnt even boot from the fist time
<aleksandrdvorkin> and green light keeps like going on and off
<aleksandrdvorkin> stays off long and stays on long
<aleksandrdvorkin> booted
<aleksandrdvorkin> by unpluggin the power cord
<aleksandrdvorkin> to LibreELEC-RPI4.arm-9.1.002.img
<vpeter> You just unplug power hard way? Don't you use shutdown in Kodi?
<aleksandrdvorkin> i used the power off in Kodi
<aleksandrdvorkin> but then unplugged and replugged the power code instead of using the inline switch\
<aleksandrdvorkin> configured the 002 and shutdown now is not booting again
swimm3r has left #libreelec [#libreelec]
andy-burns has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<vpeter> What is this "inline switch" ?
<vpeter> What if you select reboot in Kodi? Does it reboot?
<aleksandrdvorkin> reboots
<aleksandrdvorkin> my guess would be not to turn it off using kodi power off but ssh into it and shutdown using shutdown -h
<aleksandrdvorkin> i can ssh into it
<aleksandrdvorkin> but black screent
<aleksandrdvorkin> well i can ssh into it
<aleksandrdvorkin> but black screen
<aleksandrdvorkin> and the green light is off\
<aleksandrdvorkin> but flashes sometimes
<aleksandrdvorkin> but i am sshd into the Libreelec
<vpeter> Type this command systemctl restart kodi
<vpeter> and difference?
<aleksandrdvorkin> ok hold on

<aleksandrdvorkin> the commmand doesnt do anything
<aleksandrdvorkin> screen is still black
<vpeter> then type dmesg | pastebinit
<vpeter> and copy link you get.
<aleksandrdvorkin> what the command just dmesg or dmesg | pastebinit
<aleksandrdvorkin> dmesg returns result
<vpeter> second
<aleksandrdvorkin> dmesg | pastebinit no results to fetch
<vpeter> You don't get http link?
<aleksandrdvorkin> no says no resulst to fetch
<vpeter> what about date | pastebinit
<aleksandrdvorkin> ok
<aleksandrdvorkin> http://ix.io/20De
<vpeter> Strange that it can't paste dmesg data.
<vpeter> Anyway, I can't help you.
<aleksandrdvorkin> why not

<azarus> Hello, I've been trying to install LibreELEC on a computer
<azarus> But everytime I do, I just get the "no operating system found" error

<aleksandrdvorkin> azarus i am noob
self has joined #libreelec
<aleksandrdvorkin> just finally figured out how to properly shutdown LibreELEC
<aleksandrdvorkin> has to be through the SSH
<aleksandrdvorkin> only one question if i am to remove the SD card from RPI4 do i need to unplug the RPI4 from the power
<aleksandrdvorkin> outlet
<aleksandrdvorkin> or the ssh shutdown is enough
<aleksandrdvorkin> other than that LibreELEC is working with the newest image
<aleksandrdvorkin> i just after unplugging power have to ssh into RPI4 and issue systemctl reboot kodi
<aleksandrdvorkin> and then it boots
<aleksandrdvorkin> and the bluetooth headphones confirmed working
<aleksandrdvorkin> azarus maybe check you partitioning
<aleksandrdvorkin> it has two have from what i heard two partitions
<aleksandrdvorkin> the Win95 and Linux after you format the drive with the LibreELEC SD card program,
<aleksandrdvorkin> or if you use dd make sure you write to the correct drive
<aleksandrdvorkin> what is your computer
<azarus> aleksandrdvorkin: oh, just a regular x64 lenovo
aleksandrdvorkin has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
aleksandrdvorkin has joined #libreelec
<aleksandrdvorkin> azarus did you write the image to the correct partition
<azarus> aleksandrdvorkin: i wrote the image to a USB
<azarus> which is an installer
<aleksandrdvorkin> no experience with that i apologize i run LibreELEC from SD card on RaspberryPI4
<azarus> i see
<azarus> i do have a raspi2, but it's just too slow
<aleksandrdvorkin> but just a suggestion check that you have two partitons on the drive where you installing LibreELEC
<aleksandrdvorkin> it has to have Win95 and Linux
<azarus> not sure about that
<azarus> might be a raspi particularity
<aleksandrdvorkin> and ofcourse that you wrote to the correct drive
<azarus> the installer runs just fine.
ca_cabotage has joined #libreelec
<aleksandrdvorkin> yes but you have to make sure you r installing to the correct drive and partition\
<azarus> yep. only the SSD i attached is an option.
