LargePrime has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds]
<buzzmarshall>
not seen ya for awhile
<emOne>
yes
<emOne>
I have been lurking
<emOne>
:)
<emOne>
how are you?
<buzzmarshall>
pretty good, just busy trying to do to many things at once
<buzzmarshall>
haha
<buzzmarshall>
killed a couple of firestick 4k's removing the SoC and then putting them back on
<emOne>
why would you do that?
<buzzmarshall>
$
<emOne>
nice
<buzzmarshall>
someones paying me to open it up
<emOne>
awesome
<emOne>
have you found the droids you were looking for?
<buzzmarshall>
not sure what there going to do with it once i hand it off
<emOne>
have you managed to do it successfully?
<buzzmarshall>
nope not yet but ive been busy so i will wait
<buzzmarshall>
ya i can now load my linux on the fs 4k'
<buzzmarshall>
good thing there not to smart with lock bits
<buzzmarshall>
lol
<emOne>
very nice
<emOne>
as long as the tux is happy we are all good
<buzzmarshall>
actually ive gleanded i think pretty much what i need for the mk7668 as its on that board as well
<emOne>
ooohh
<emOne>
nice
<emOne>
buzzmarshall: the guys over at CE got that chip to work
<emOne>
they included the driver that chewy found
<emOne>
they simply compiled it and it worked
<buzzmarshall>
outside the firestick thing ive been working on the LE masters and started a out of tree release i am working on then will post
<buzzmarshall>
cool
<emOne>
awesome
<buzzmarshall>
ya ive not got to that so i am glad to here that
<buzzmarshall>
i knew the bluetooth part of the chipset was there but wasn't sure about the firmware bin for the wifi part
gouchi has joined #libreelec
<buzzmarshall>
so far ive got S812 and S912 and the older S905 working on LE with my 4.19 kernel
<emOne>
afaik they didn't get the bluetooeth workiing
<buzzmarshall>
but i had to regress kodi back down to 81.5
<emOne>
only wifi
<buzzmarshall>
sorry 18.5
<emOne>
yea
<buzzmarshall>
matrix is still kinda weird with things
<emOne>
for a second I thought you lived in the future
<emOne>
we all live in the matrix
<emOne>
some of us are just aware of it
<buzzmarshall>
some is the typical python 3 thing but some of its probably my kernel as its heavily modded
<buzzmarshall>
i am trying to move some of my mods into the kernel 5 versions
<emOne>
does it not finish booting?
<buzzmarshall>
then if i get it all working i will just give it to someone else to worry about trying to upstream stuff
<buzzmarshall>
matrix runs ok
<buzzmarshall>
but plugins and some of the support stuffs not right
<buzzmarshall>
i can stream simple 1080 ok here pulling from my network but its picky with some of the codecs used by some of the ripped movies
<emOne>
hmm yea that is very strange
<emOne>
the plug in stuff sounds like python 3 related issues maybe
<emOne>
the codecs though .. that is .... strange
<buzzmarshall>
some of its probably my kernel as everything ive done is hardcoded into it
<emOne>
hmm ok
<buzzmarshall>
ive never been into all the git stuff as i predate that and just kinda work in my own flow
<buzzmarshall>
so everything is a real mess
<emOne>
:)
<emOne>
git is mh
<emOne>
meh
<buzzmarshall>
finally yesterday i got the S812's working on 18.5
<buzzmarshall>
they were giving me boot up issues but i finally found the issue and fixed it
<buzzmarshall>
actually works not to bad on the eny m8s ive got
<buzzmarshall>
not sure how well it works on anyone elses m8s tho
<emOne>
that is really good news
<emOne>
I am still in disbelief how much has to be done to make software work on different arm chips
<emOne>
it kinda sucks
<buzzmarshall>
its fun... probably not worth the effort but still its helping me figure out all this git stuff and making patches rather then hardcoding things
<emOne>
yea+
<buzzmarshall>
dumping the MTK8695 help make me see something on the S922's i missed which was a real perk
<emOne>
ooh cool
<emOne>
you are like cipher from the matrix
<buzzmarshall>
i need to rewrite a couple of routines in my boundary scanning software to prove it but it looks promising
<emOne>
boundary scanning :O
<emOne>
?
<buzzmarshall>
its not as hard to flip lock bits as one would think and appears theres a few bo boo's in the ATF platform
<emOne>
buzzmarshall: I have to run
<emOne>
talk to you later
