Hi, I would like to know, when building Kodi in LibreELEC, does the build system use the "internal FFMPEG" for that Kodi? Or does it use the FFMPEG version installed to the system?

<chewitt>
LE builds its own ffmpeg, but using the same configuration/specification as the Kodi internal (aka "depends") ffmpeg
<chewitt>
as a rule, most Linux distros should package Kodi using the internal/depends version, else you may find ffmpeg from distro's own repo may not have everything we need
<chewitt>
LE likes to have direct control over how things get compiled, and we occasionally carry experimental patches for Kodi + ffmpeg which are not yet upstream
<sbbg>
chewitt, here is my concern.

<chewitt>
we try to minimise that
<sbbg>
I finally have a copy of FFMPEG working with DRM_PRIME. If I let Kodi build its own FFMPEG, will it support DRM_PRIME too?
<chewitt>
Kodi depends ffmpeg is currently not that far from ffmpeg master, so yes it should have everything needed
<sbbg>
So it not magically reading configuration from a system-wide version of FFMPEG? right?
<chewitt>
IIRC it should be using ffmpeg as a lib, and it knows where to find the lib
<chewitt>
which allows host ffmpeg to be the normal fat binary with whatever compile options the distro chose
<chewitt>
hence LE also has an "ffmpeg" binary add-on which is compiled with a ton more options that users sometimes ask for, and ffplay etc.
<chewitt>
ffmpegx it's called
<sbbg>
ok... so I've better let Kodi do its own version first, unless it's not working?
<chewitt>
sounds like a plan
<sbbg>
So in the final image, the kodi static linked to its own version of FFMPEG?
<chewitt>
something like that I guess
<chewitt>
^ in case you don't realise, I'm not a coding developer per-se so thats all juju that I let others in the project understand
<sbbg>
Thanks, anyway.
<sbbg>
BTW, does anyone know a way to learn the cmake parameter given to kodi when LibreELEC is building? I kind of worry about not giving enough parameters.
<sbbg>
I'm looking into ~/LibreELEC.tv/build.LibreELEC-H6.aarch64-9.80-devel/build/kodi-3375a26606b3a6913bea18f4ef7b85a72b724915/.aarch64-libreelec-linux-gnueabi/CMakeFiles/ , are they in CMakeOutput.txt ?

<buzzmarshall>
anyone familiar with LE build system i am interested in understanding that the os.libreelec.tv addon is for inside the kodi package config directory
<buzzmarshall>
i am trying to get more insite into the build system and wasnt sure exactly what its purpose is
<buzzmarshall>
as it appears almost like some type of stub file
<buzzmarshall>
i see a os.openelec.tv one as well but whenever looking at any of the other distros based on LE or OE i never see them create one for their distro so i wasn't sure what exactly the reasoning behind the addon in the config directory was for

buzzmarshall, it's so people don't try and install our LE specific add-ons into other systems running kodi
