chewitt: Thanks for the update. I bought one for my parents some years back, compared to standard linux boxes it is not very stable (I have even seen filesystem corruptions which required a reinstall). My impression is that the problems correlate with wifi usage, so I suspect that the wifi driver is part of the problem.

Do I understand it right, that the support is ways behind imx6 support?

there is really only one person working on Meson8 support in the Linux kernel, and he doesn't own a WP1
