chewitt, that being said, thanks for the tips, it proves the I can boot mainline on that box, drm/mmc/serial/eth seems to work fine. So the thing to look at is mali/panfrost, which sees to be where things stops working (no crash though, just black screen)

add "video=HDMI-A-1:1920x1080@60" to boot params in /flash/uEnv.ini and it will force 1080p output

in my images the Kodi GUI is forced to 1080p anyway so 4K shouldn't cause issues

"journalctl | paste" and "cat /storage/.kodi/temp/kodi.log | paste" will show the error if anything is logged

"dmesg | paste" would be interesting to see too .. for spotting general error messages
