<naobsd_out> hmm I should find out good irc client for android...
<naobsd_out> amstan: how about gmac?
naobsd_out_ has joined #linux-rockchip
<amstan> naobsd_out: yeah, no deal
<amstan> naobsd_out: i don't see any reply on mdio from the phy
<amstan> naobsd_out_: or was that you?
<amstan> mrueg, naobsd_out: what do you guys use as power supplies for the firefly?

<naobsd_out> http://www.ianker.com/product/71AN7105SS-BA with USB-DC cable
<naobsd_out> OTG power cannot be used on firefly
<amstan> woah, that's cool
<naobsd_out> amstan: will you buy firefly?
<amstan> naobsd_out: i have one on my desk
<amstan> but i can't figure out how to turn it on
<amstan> does it come with any existing software?
<amstan> i'm thinking to scope the mdio lines to check things
<mmind00> amstan: the firefly should've come with a cable usb to a small round plug which goes to the dc5v on the board
<amstan> mmind00: yeah, but i have no luck with it on a 2.1A charger
<mmind00> amstan: strange ... for me even a regular 500mA port works nicely
<naobsd_out> normally it should boot
<amstan> nvm, it was a stupid charger
<mmind00> amstan: so you don't see anything on the serial console?
<naobsd_out> please check serial console
<amstan> alright, works now, i get the interesting demo
<naobsd_out> :)
<naobsd_out> will you try chromium os on it? :)
<amstan> is that planet earth?
<amstan> naobsd_out: for now i just want something that does ethernet
<naobsd_out> no idea about demo you mentioned... test file in storage?
<amstan> yeah, android boots, and then there's this memory and video test in there
<amstan> and there's a movie playing
<amstan> why do they have that on the emmc? lol
<amstan> i like how they don't have a heatsink
<amstan> and it gets to 97C
<mmind00> amstan: there should'Ve been one in the package
naobsd has joined #linux-rockchip
<mmind00> amstan: and I'm still not sure how to "glue" mine onto the soc ;-)
<amstan> hm
<amstan> i don't think i got one
<amstan> oh well, there's some in the lab here

<mmind00> amstan: just for convenience, config from http://pastebin.com/i8vEmEwv ; code from https://github.com/mmind/linux-rockchip/tree/devel/for_broken_bootloaders and firefly-devicetree from https://github.com/mmind/linux-rockchip/tree/wip/v3.21-armsoc/dts should give you working ethernet on the firefly
<amstan> mmind00: wooah, that's decent, thank you
<mmind00> always trying to help :-D

<mrueg> naobsd: I recommend quassel + quasseldroid if you need an irc client
<mmind00> mrueg naobsd: me too ... especially nice when you can put the quassel-server on a real server and just reconnect to it without loosing conversation after sleeping
<naobsd> mrueg: http://quassel-irc.org/ hmm, thanks
<naobsd> yeah I want irc proxy(bouncer?) too
<mrueg> You might wanna join the quasseldroid beta program on Google play if you want the material design
<mmind00> naobsd: no need for a separate proxy with quassel ... it does everything including archiving everything that is said in a channel
<mrueg> Btw anyone of you using the fan delivered with the firefly?
<mmind00> mrueg: nope ... I wasn't sure how it should be put on at all and it didn't come with instructions
<amstan> i use konversation with a znc bouncer
<mrueg> I just used some other heatsinks to fix the heatsink between the board and the case
<mmind00> ah a fellow kde user? :-D
<mrueg> Wonder if it'll get too hot
<mmind00> mrueg: yes it will :-) ... but I guess once somebody gets the tsadc to talk, the frequency scaling should limit itself
<mrueg> mmind00: they have a separate case part for the fan
<mrueg> I guess you just have to switch the top of the case with that one
<mmind00> mrueg: I don't even use the case :-) ... I travel to much and the board is much less bulky without case
<naobsd> I'm not using case/fan too :)
<naobsd> yup
<amstan> "four cute penguins will be shown on display, which indicates the quad-core CPU"
<amstan> lol
<naobsd> I have to leave, later

<Omegamoon> just don't get it... still no USB device is being detected using linux-next on radxa
<Omegamoon> I also tried the MK908III... same problem
<Omegamoon> anyone willing to share a known working defconfig for radxa?
<mmind00> Omegamoon: it might also be an issue of the dwc2 driver ... i.e. on the firefly I only get usb-reset messages when when pluggin in stuff at runtime ... detection at boot works though ... if I connect an external hub to the port, I also can plug/unplug at runtime again on the hub itself
<mmind00> Omegamoon: haven't investigated further yet, but is your usb device also not detected when plugged in at boot?
di-erz has joined #linux-rockchip
<Omegamoon> mmind00: I just tried to boot with a ASIX AX88772A USB 2.0 Ethernet dongle connected, and it is not recognized
<Omegamoon> let me try with an external hub, that's a good idea
<Omegamoon> I'll also try connecting a different device, let's say a mouse
<Omegamoon> mmind00: you're right! the mouse is recognized only on bootup
<Omegamoon> mmind00: using an external hub doesn't work unfortunately :-(
<Omegamoon> ah, great. on bootup it now recognizes my ethernet dongle as well: usb 2-1: Product: AX88x72A
<Omegamoon> what are the chances of success on using the rx30xxnand driver to access NAND by the way, has that been tried?

<Omegamoon> I've patched the rockchip rk30xxnand 3.10 module so it is identified as a 3.19 module
<Omegamoon> insmod rk30xxnand_ko.ko.3.19.0 gives a version mismatch
guest______ has joined #linux-rockchip

<Omegamoon> found config options that caused the mismatch, retrying...
<Omegamoon> the rk30xxnand driver is expecting some routines in the kernel, adding them now...
<Omegamoon> okay, the nand driver now loads
<Omegamoon> now, there are 2 versions of the nand driver, one is in a "update" directory. Any idea what the difference between the "update" and the "normal" one is?
<Omegamoon> is the difference maybe related to the "old" mtd/rknand driver and the "new" arch/arm/mach-rockchip/rknandbase?
<Omegamoon> first trying the mtd/rknand driver...
<Omegamoon> weird thing is the mtd/rknand driver seems to break the ethernet connection
<Omegamoon> now trying the rknandbase driver
