<tkaiser> miasma: USB2 doesn't use '10->8bit' coding (but USB 3.0 and 3.1 Gen 1 do). It's just inefficiency and a bug in mass storage protocol that limit you to somewhere below 40MB/s in reality (slightly exceeding 40 MB/s with UAS)
<MoeIcenowy> tkaiser: my device is not ASM115x
<MoeIcenowy> it's NS1068
<tkaiser> MoeIcenowy: I know but maybere there's also impossible to detect it properly with USB2 while it's possible with UAS3

<tkaiser> KotCzarny: Doesn't matter, A20/R40 is the problem. Doesn't support FIS based switching so concurrent disk access will always be PITA and then SATA implementation of the SoC is crap anyway
<tkaiser> That _might_ change with H6 in Allwinner land. Add an ASM1061, check performance. If it's worse than now with A20/R40 then Allwinner's PCIe implementation is broken.
<KotCzarny> yup

<jelle> it's a bit out of date
<swiftgeek> jelle: i mean status is outdated :P
<jelle> I'd just have to go through the git history of u-boot
<vagrantc> did a64 u-boot SPL support land in v2017.03 or v2017.05-rc* ?
<swiftgeek> for Next Release i can say that EMAC is working properly on my board
<jelle> vagrantc: the latter I hope

<MoeIcenowy> We need still SPL FIT support in U-Boot for fully get A64 to work
<swiftgeek> last stable release throws errors
<jelle> vagrantc: not sure what a64 u-boot SPL is, but OrangePi PC2 initial support is in master
<vagrantc> jelle: less of the allwinner binary blobs
<vagrantc> jelle: and hopefully easier to install ... i've been using u-boot v2016.11 on the pine64+ for a while now
<vagrantc> but it's a little messy to install
<jelle> oh I have to try to add nanopi a64 support somewhere this year :p
<vagrantc> looks like the README.pine64 hasn't been updated since july in mainline u-boot ...
<swiftgeek> KotCzarny: well i don't see such status matrix for uboot anywhere :D
<vagrantc> so i'm guessing the SPL updates weren't yet merged either

<jelle> ok updated the page a bit
<vagrantc> oh, it looks like A64 SPL is enabled in u-boot mainline... just not documented

<jelle> swiftgeek: added changes for 2017.03 https://linux-sunxi.org/Mainline_U-Boot#v2017.03
<swiftgeek> can i paste that feature matrix to mainline u-boot? I'm not quite sure which rows do not apply to uboot, definitely audio/codec stuff do not :D
<swiftgeek> jelle: it's enabled but it actually works in current master (enable H3 EMAC for the nanopi neo) at least on my device - it could be the same for nanopi neo
<jelle> swiftgeek: huh?
<swiftgeek> ah this is strange
<swiftgeek> emac was added in v2016.09
<jelle> yes
<jelle> swiftgeek: but I forgot to add it for the nanopi neo :P
<swiftgeek> yeah then why it was broken on v2017.03 release for orangepi 2E
<jelle> swiftgeek: not sure, don't have that board
<swiftgeek> jelle: but it works on yours with release ?
<jelle> when I added it for 2017.03, it worked
<swiftgeek> ie. tftp* commands do not crash ?
<KotCzarny> there was someone working on uboot table, hrm
<KotCzarny> cant find it
<KotCzarny> might be on user's page still

<swiftgeek> jelle: yeah it's really strange, plus2e doesn't get any commits since introduction
<KotCzarny> because plus2e is just another h3 board that doesnt require anything special
<swiftgeek> so there had to be more boards with broken emac on v2017.03
<KotCzarny> unless it's something specific to the chip used
<swiftgeek> RTL8211E is used i will try looking for that
