Wizzup: hmm so about a year ago i added ofono commit "motorolamodem: Add handler for SIM detection", that's the motmdm-serdev-ngsm branch, do you have that commit?
<Wizzup>
tmlind: iirc you said in some cases ofono needs to be 'kicked', I think this might be such a case

Hello. I am trying to be able to install apps using hildon-application-manager. I got an error saying to be not /usr/share/hildon-application-manager/defaults
<diejuse11>
So I created the "defaults" folder and now I get "/usr/share/application-manager/defaults: Error on line 1 char 1: Document was empty or contained only whitespace"
<diejuse11>
This error appear when I touch over the app icon I want to install.

Are you sure the environment variables are set up properly?
<sicelo>
widget disappearance after a crash is a known feature. If HD blames a widget for its crash, it will not auto load it next time to avoid booting to non-functional desktop. Sounds reasonable
<sicelo>
s/feature/issue
<uvos_>
i have had this happen several times
<uvos_>
it would be cool if it asked
<uvos_>
so you could preserve your widgets by clicking try again vs safe mode or whatever
<parazyd>
Sounds like a nice feature
<sicelo>
The correct thing though is to fix the offending widgets
<sicelo>
parazyd: +1
<uvos_>
the correct correct thing is for the arictecture to not allow widgets to crash the desktop
<uvos_>
like on android
<uvos_>
but thats hard to change ofc
<sicelo>
uvos_: you say it happened a lot for you? Which widget did you have?
<uvos_>
clandar widget
<uvos_>
but it happend while woring on hildon-desktop
<sicelo>
Ok
<uvos_>
i think mit sigkillingn hildon-desktop triggerd this
<uvos_>
*me
<sicelo>
That widget is quite okay (at least I can vouch for it on fremantle, where I use it consistently). For there were not many changes for Leste, so I'd expect it to be fine too
<diejuse11>
do you guys have Chromium installed? The icon is not shown.
<diejuse11>
However Firefox does.
<sicelo>
Checked in the debian directory? The one with debian icon
* sicelo
doesn't use chromium though

a good file explorer for Leste?
<buZz>
mc ?
<buZz>
not sure if any of the X ones are really nice on touchscreen, at least mc is really nice with keyboard
<buZz>
oh, you might not have a keyboard i guess?
<diejuse11>
mc is good, but I mean with GUI
<buZz>
i'm not aware of a maemo filemanager that was ported yet
<buZz>
maybe pcmanfx will work well
<diejuse11>
I use phones with physical keyboard and without them too
<buZz>
alright :)
<diejuse11>

Unsure if it works though

<buZz>
nice

yesterday I installed "kate". It is my favourite text editor. Works well but menu list are not shown when I touch them.

<xmn>
Happy wknd guys. Can someone confirm that the n900 will not charge with out a minimum boot OS. Was sharing this info and wanted to make sure I was correct.
<sicelo>
The device is able to do emergency charging without that. However, in that mode, it only charges to a certain level, after which it tries to charge with help of OS. If OS is broken, then yes, you cannot charge further
<sicelo>
And, you cannot flash in that state too (although maybe 0xFFFF could perhaps be coerced to allow it ... no idea)
<sicelo>
If you find yourself in this unfortunate situation, you should be able to charge via emergency mode, then load rescueOS to RAM and start proper charging up to the point when you can reflash Maemo (or fix it some other way)
<xmn>
cool, pretty much what I figured. And thankfully I have an external charge since I've been hit by low charge issue a few time in the past
<xmn>
thanks for sharing your knowledge sicelo ;)
<sicelo>
yw. Might be wrong here and there :-p
<xmn>
I understand. But it aligns with my thinking so I chalk it up as good enough for sure ... heh
