Lofty changed the topic of #prjmistral to: Project Mistral: Yosys (and hopefully nextpnr) on Cyclone FPGAs - https://github.com/ZirconiumX/mistral - logs: https://freenode.irclog.whitequark.org/prjmistral

<Lofty> Spent last night slowly adding timings for Arria V

<mmicko> Lofty: dumping data works fine on 13.1 but not on 13.0sp1 which is pitty since that is last version that support lot of old architectures
<Lofty> Ouch
<mmicko> tried linux and windows installation, and both get stuch in same way
<mmicko> running separate passes does not generate any dump files
<mmicko> it looks like it is stuck at quartus_map but when started manually it works just fine (but does not produce any dump file)
<daveshah> might be worth playing with strace/ltrace to see if there is a way round whatever it is getting stuck on
<mmicko> when running full flow it stuck at 100%
<mmicko> right, just cheheck on windows and it failed same way on same place
<mmicko> strace show that it reads some data (looks like data that you would expect in dump files) but it is very very slow
<daveshah> strange
<daveshah> n² type behaviour where it slows down over time?
<rombik_su> Interestingly enough, my Quartus 18.0 Standard tries to open bunch of unrelated files - iterating over all present device families etc.
<rombik_su> (on a compile run)
<Sarayan> 9.1 has the "PDB_ASCII_DUMP" string in its code
<Lofty> Well, I got most of the way through the Arria V dump, and then ran out of disk space.
<mmicko> Anyone aware if there is 13.0 ISO image or tar.gz for linux available ? only thing available on their site is for 13.0sp1
<rombik_su> mmicko: Web or SE edition?
<mmicko> well I can use Web only I guess, since I have no license
<rombik_su> Quartus-web-13.0.0.156-linux.tar, 4.5G, sound good?
<rombik_su> *sounds
<mmicko> yes, thanks
<rombik_su> I think I need an hour or two for this
<mmicko> no hurry
<Sarayan> rombik_su has every version of quartus ever, or so it seems
<rombik_su> One of the perks of living in Russia ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
<Sarayan> :-)
<mmicko> I have about 100GB of old FTP content from altera, including versions from 2.2 til 9.0 and some older
<rombik_su> 2.2, wow, quite a commitment!
<mmicko> quartusii_22_sp2_linux.tar
<rombik_su> Any MAX+PLUS in stock? )
<mmicko> maxplusii_1012_solaris.tar.Z maxplusii_1012_common.tar.Z
<mmicko> maxplusii_1021_pc.zip maxplusii_1022_pc.exe
<mmicko> this is all I have
<rombik_su> Solaris? Oh, wow.
<Sarayan> I have a student102.exe that's probably a maxplus2
<Sarayan> Yep, MAX+plus II 10.2 BASELINE
<mmicko> I had to check in my old CD collection, I should have original from Altera, which I ordered as student
<Sarayan> og.kervella.org/student102.exe
<rombik_su> mmicko: rombik.su/Quartus-web-13.0.0.156-linux.tar
<mmicko> downloading
<mmicko> done
<mmicko> rombik_su: all fine (installing right now) feel free to remove
<mmicko> ah, get stuck at same place
<mmicko> will need to deep dive in this
<rombik_su> That's a shame. Want to iterate over other versions?
<mmicko> 13.1 works, but does not support cyclone 2 anymore
<mmicko> nor max3000 and max7000
<rombik_su> What's your quartus.ini? Here's my lucky combo: PDB_ASCII_DUMP=on asm_dump_asmdb=on asm_dump_dirt=on
<Sarayan> dev_dump_part_data=on is nice too
<Sarayan> Error: Part name EPF8452AQC160 is invalid
<Sarayan> urgh, 9.1 doesn't want it it seems
<Sarayan> Does anybody have a quartus that actually likes that part number?
<Sarayan> It's flex 8000
<Sarayan> ouch, on 9.1 PDB_DUMP_ASCII dumps on stdout
<mmicko> ok I think I have figured it out
<mmicko> oh, Sarayan you got same as I did on 13.0sp1
<mmicko> it is going to stdout all the time
<mmicko> just checked and at 13.1 it is going to files, seams they changed it then
<mmicko> Sarayan: sent you my output for max7000ae on discord
<Sarayan> ah damn, I needed 9.0 then
* Sarayan does puppy eyes
<rombik_su> Of course, I'll need an hour or so.
<Sarayan> oh, an intriguing detail: quartus_sh includes the string 'PDB_ASCII_DUMP' (18.1 doesn't) so maybe it's triggerable from there (and perhaps you can have it dump into a file)
<rombik_su> Damn, there's no Linux version for 9.1 Web on my archive. I've got SE, and I believe you can switch it in web version (or 30-day trial) IIRC
<rombik_su> *9.0
<rombik_su> *switch it to web version
<rombik_su> But mmicko can hook you up with 9.0 for Linux instead!
<mmicko> ok, uploaded and provided him a link :)
<rombik_su> Thanks!
<mmicko> did not try to install to be honest
<Sarayan> downloading lalala
<mmicko> please just tell me when finished since I have no space more there :) so have to remove
<Sarayan> It's good, I just finished downloading the 4 linux fies
<Sarayan> files
<Sarayan> it's installing
<Sarayan> looks like nios is missing, but I don't think I care
<Sarayan> Error: License file is not specified
<Sarayan> hmmmm
<mmicko> uploading you nios
