in this Vagrantfile (https://gist.github.com/nedbat/cc17cc21bd3fd370ef21496bbd52f977) we used to have :file and :name for each release (lines 62-103), but they were almost the same, so I added logic at line 109 to default one to the other (plus an extension). Now I have all these one-entry hashes with just :name. How would I change the logic so that most keys in openedx_releases had a string for a value, but a few had a two-element hash?

Hi all. Are ruby releases backwards compatible? Meaning, I can run a ruby 1.x app on a ruby 2.x VM?

There are breaking changes, but on the other hand, a lot of the code should be portable, too

still seems odd to me that the number of breaking changes in 1.9 didn't make them call it 2.0. seems like it would have been a natural dividing line.
<snood1205>
The 1.9 changes were mostly syntactical whereas the 2.0 changes were moreso backend, IIRC.
<snood1205>
But don't quote me on that, I'm not 100% sure on that.
