<d1b2> <theorbtwo> Yeah, I was thinking things like a button or two on the probe for being able to use the hand holding the probe to control things like trigger... Though now I am imagining a ui that lets you use it as "I have moved on to the next pin" to keep recordings straight.
<d1b2> <theorbtwo> Also, "user just flipped my 1x/10x switch", "I detected an out-of-range condition".
<azonenberg> yeah i dont have an immediate use for it but cant hurt to define protocol capabilities for it just in case
<azonenberg> Having a remappable button or two that you can bind to an arbitrary glscopeclient event might be nice
<d1b2> <theorbtwo> Re units, I was thinking using the sideband to tell the host about the units of the main (analog) connection. IE, "I am a current probe, display me in W".
<azonenberg> Yeah that definitely makes sense. The LeCroy ProBus descriptor includes propagation delay, nominal gain, etc
<azonenberg> i dont know if it includes units or if they just have a table of probe IDs as string names and map that to units
<d1b2> <theorbtwo> Re vendor lock-in, as I think more about it, just change the example model id to "starship raider akl-pt1".
