So i played around a bit more with some of the scrap AKL-PT2 boards (they included 2 bad panels along with the good ones, i guess for QA/test purposes or something)

They're not tooo hard to depanelize but it's a bit labor intensive, you have to snap off the rigid frame then cut a bunch of the polyimide support structure between the boards

then sand off the mouse bites so it fits in the mold

Once depanelized, they fit the mold perfectly

and the polyimide stiffener is exactly what we need to keep the resistors from cracking

it's not too thick and plenty rigid enough

very happy in general, didnt get time to actually solder one tonight because i was busy on other stuff
