codeworkx and xplodwild - Which wifi driver do we grab? The I9100 update4 one is kinda derpy. N7000 one or kangbang pawitp's aries bcmdhd work?
<xplodwild>
Entropy512: I suggest trying with N7000 one
<Entropy512>
Yeah. I'm about 50/50 - on one hand it's probably closer to a driver meant for our hardware, on the other hand - it has Samsung derpiness
<Entropy512>
well most likely
<xplodwild>
but at least we're sure it -will- work
<Entropy512>
it's easier to kangbang the N7000 one though
<xplodwild>
and yep it'll easier to integrate
<Entropy512>
on N7000 it is - but might break I9100 and I777.
<xplodwild>
hmm I don't think so
<Entropy512>
easy enough to test though
<Entropy512>
N7000 source definitely has significant changes
<xplodwild>
tell me when you did it I'll test on both (if I'm not asleep by then
datagutt has quit [Quit: Computer has gone to sleep.]
<xplodwild>
yeah, I looked at your diff branch
<Entropy512>
considering that none of the official ICS releases for Note work with I9100 update4's bcmdhd at all
<Entropy512>
if adhoc and wifi direct work, N7000 sources are probably the best bet
<Entropy512>
if either of them don't work, we may want to consider grabbing the aries version
<Entropy512>
i'm going to diffchunk more and then grab the wifi drivers
<Entropy512>
it's amazing how much crap changed. :(
<xplodwild>
hopefully they don't added dependency on other drivers
<xplodwild>
their glorious "external sec_blah" declared in mach
<Entropy512>
btw, could use another pair of eyes on why the time-based nandroid throttling seems to be updating far slower than 1 Hz. I can understand slow updates for large files - but it seems like everything is updating far less frequently than it should

<Entropy512>
did 1080p playback ever work for us?
<Entropy512>
I thought it did but I can't figure out what would've broken it
<xplodwild>
afaik it works on i9100
<xplodwild>
so should work on n7000 too
<Entropy512>
yeah - but I can't remember, did it work in the past? I thought it did
<xplodwild>
let me test here, I run a quite old build
<Entropy512>
prior to nightlies?
<Entropy512>
it seems like that might be when it broke
<Entropy512>
seems like they are doing serious rework to drivers/battery and drivers/power
<Entropy512>
but are only halfway done
<xplodwild>
hmm on my build 1080p makes camera app crash it seems
<xplodwild>
rebooting it, I'll see if I have 1080p videos already
<xplodwild>
hmm don't seem to work
<Entropy512>
ok so it's something that's always been broken
<Entropy512>
maybe some memory setting, I think FIMG got bumped up in update3
* Entropy512
commits mortal git-sin on the n7000 update3 diffs branch again
<Entropy512>
gotta pull in the new busfreq stuff this weekend
<Entropy512>
probably a significant performance improvement there
<codeworkx>
Entropy512: we're using i9100 upd4
<codeworkx>
Entropy512: but i'm fine with everything which works better
<codeworkx>
Entropy512: or makes wifi direct working :-D
<codeworkx>
nebkat|beer: wanna get pwned?
<Entropy512>
yeah - the question is which will work better, kangbanging from pawitp or n7000 upd3 :)
