<TD-Linux> adamgreig, is your spi programmer only 1 sided?
<adamgreig> what do you mean?
<adamgreig> the pcb has two layers, components only on one side, and it does bidirectional full duplex spi
<adamgreig> (by which i mean, it can swap the sense of both miso and mosi)
<adamgreig> today in "lies datasheets tell", https://twitter.com/adamgreig/status/1126647336501948416
<TD-Linux> yeah I meant just one side of components
<TD-Linux> it looks super fast to assemble
<adamgreig> yea! it was extremely fast
<adamgreig> and a few more could go if you didn't want to have target power supply
<adamgreig> the sot-23-5 is a power switch
<adamgreig> i think i might just build it in to my upcoming fpga board, it's almost the same price for usb+stm32 as for samtec debug connector
<adamgreig> could add a usb serial port to fpga that way too
<TD-Linux> indeed. I would consider using tinyfpga bootloader but most of my stuff uses a hx1k
<TD-Linux> (and that still needs initial programming)
<adamgreig> yea
<adamgreig> stm32f042 is nice too in that it comes in big-pitch qfp, or teeny tiny bga/qfn
<adamgreig> and needs no passives besides a decoupling cap perhaps
<adamgreig> and it has a built in usb bootloader so you don't even need an stm32 programmer :p
<gruetzkopf> one of the local connector manufacturers brought me shiny catalogues ealier today
<TD-Linux> yeah the big-pitch qfp means you can be pretty sloppy during placement
<adamgreig> shame the usb-c connector is quite fine pitch, even this usb2-only version
<TD-Linux> I'd be tempted to put microusb on except they are also probably equally unreliable
<adamgreig> microusb is fine really and relatively easier to solder i guess
<adamgreig> but usb-c is defo the future and it's very nice getting to plug it in either way around

<whitequark> i almost wonder if it's worth using reversible microusb
<whitequark> cable but iirc there are connectors too

<kbeckmann> What's the current usability of SERDES on ECP5 (LFE5UM and/or 5G) with trellis? What works and doesn't work?
forgottenwizard is now known as ZombieChicke
ZombieChicke is now known as ZombieChicken
<daveshah> kbeckmann: as far as I know, everything is supported
<daveshah> However it's not that well tested, and there is very little documentation on the parameters themselves

<Sprite_tm> daveshah: Hey, if you're there, quick q: do you know if I still need your yosys branch for https://github.com/daveshah1/prjtrellis-dvi/tree/master ?
<Sprite_tm> Trying to run the makefile, but yosys is stuck on hdl/vga2dvid.v , using 100% cpu and not doing anything...
<daveshah> Sprite_tm: the vga2dvi Verilog was broken but this was only revealed with a recent Yosys fix
<daveshah> I would use master and remove https://github.com/daveshah1/prjtrellis-dvi/blob/master/hdl/vga2dvid.vhd#L100 which is dead code anyway
<Sprite_tm> Ah, that was... kinda obvious I guess :) thanks.

<TD-Linux> adamgreig, btw if I order some ffp boards should I do r1? will there be a r2?
<adamgreig> I don't plan on it but haven't finished the firmware so don't know for sure yet :p
<TD-Linux> ok I'll hold off a bit :)
<TD-Linux> I suppose I could use the same cortex tag-connect for the spi flash programming connection on my ice40 boards
