<andlabs> oh, I need a different cable to connect floppy drives to the glasgow, gah
<andlabs> guess that'll have to wait then
<cr1901_modern> different cable?
<andlabs> ugh if the problem is I killed this 3.5" drive then well fuck
<andlabs> it's not powering anymore
<andlabs> (back to the flux engine)
<andlabs> I'll just get another one, along with an external drive to replace the sabrent one because I'm pretty sure it's not working right at this point; don't feel like trying the 5.25" driver ight now

<andlabs> four candidate 3.5" drives asked about, though I think I may have been beat on one of htem
<andlabs> mitsumi, panasonic (the one that may have been bought), alps, and samsung
<andlabs> commodore used alps 5.25" drives and I have no reason to distrust samsung but let's hope these drives are all good brands
<cr1901_modern> https://twitter.com/whitequark/status/1092084527734829058 Foone, whitequark: Hmmm this thread appears to be making the rounds again, either of you know why?
<cr1901_modern> andlabs: In 2010, I was able to get like a dozen Alps 3.5" drives for like $25
<cr1901_modern> I didn't need a dozen 3.5" drives, but I couldn't pass it up...
<andlabs> nice
<andlabs> I'm just checking ahead of time that these drives are tested for power, read, AND write before I pick them up
<andlabs> meanwhile in potential content for either Foone or @dosnostalgic
<andlabs> and the first responder was the mitsumi drive, so I'm grabbing that one
<andlabs> and the Alps drive guy responded just a few minutes too late
<andlabs> (shame; it would have been cheaper)
