<FoxofSilver> I can get it to work when I add the project via boinc, but not when I add it via the pool site
<bob21> ^when trying to start wallet
<mrtrousers> its not the conf, conf its ok
<mrtrousers> Anyway as i was saying wikipedia grc in english, the thing is it will be out of our control, people can edit, etc..
<mrtrousers> And i think thats a good thing, independent, kind of objective..
<mrtrousers> And another idea i had..
<Mercosity> customminer: I found out what it is. I am using BAM and with BAM it won't let me remove seti. I stopped using BAM and now I can remove seti - Wierd or weird!
<mrtrousers> Its in a grey area. But i think if people that sell pokemongo accounts accepted grc, that would give the coin a boost.
<bob21> Might be time to google wallet reinstall -- I was almost to that point yesterday

<FoxofSilver> so do I not get pay out when I do it independantly? That's my main concern
<apc> you do. just join team gridcoin
<apc> and use the same email addy, etc
<FoxofSilver> I have all that set up already
<apc> then yeah. although people have problems crunching solo and pool to the same wallet
<FoxofSilver> so what if I do a bunch of solos?
<apc> that'd be ideal. you might not get rewards as often tho, depending on how much credit you're able to generate
<apc> like if you're just running one box, I'd say only crunch one or two projects
<FoxofSilver> well I'd like to generate as much coin as possible from what I got
<apc> so your resources aren't too spread out
<apc> solo you don't pay the pool fee
<apc> and your name gets added to the list of people I will be referring to when selecting my world high council
<apc> and the leaderboard
<Mercosity> Projects have to be added in BM and the pool then synced to pool in BM Tools drop down.

<FoxofSilver> interesting
<apc> so can the people with the most voting power just go around upvoting each other?
<Peppernrino> to an extent yeah, i suppose
<Peppernrino> you can only vote on things once every so often
<Peppernrino> and your power replenishes after payouts
<FoxofSilver> so how does this stop the rich from controlling things?
<Peppernrino> as you distribute your power it becomes worth less.

<ravon_> What about pools then? At pool.gridcoin.co we get paid roughly every 2 weeks.
<SvartH> i'm a noob but I think it's a combination of RAC and balance
<FoxofSilver> i'm doing solo mining
<FoxofSilver> crunching, that's the term

<Erkan_Yilmaz> customminer you could make a VM with some DB installed, so the project rainer saves some time, and just needs to import the SQL
<customminer> It's a work in progress, i'll certainly look into something along those lines. Could perhaps create a docker container?
<Erkan_Yilmaz> docker or VM: when you add the according licences as info, should be ok
<Erkan_Yilmaz> 2. and I still think the mainpage with just 3 big buttons like: "you want to earn money" "you want to distribute money to BOINC users" "I have no clue about this all" would be better ;-)

<customminer> Erkan_Yilmaz: Maybe yeah, but at the moment i'm just throwing all the information in the one place - i'll potentially condense it later. I was considering making a whitepaper and reducing the front page text.
<Erkan_Yilmaz> just think of how newcomers to Gridcoin act
<Erkan_Yilmaz> sure
<customminer> to be fair, it's easy for users to register & add their crypto addresses/accounts - just currently difficult for asset distributors
<customminer> work in progress! ;D
<Erkan_Yilmaz> yeah, when I read that the distributors have to install DB and what not, I wondered how happy they will be
<ravon_> Can you do solo mining without the Gridcoin Research client and just a Poloniex wallet?
<ravon_> Still new, still a little confused :)
<Erkan_Yilmaz> no
<Erkan_Yilmaz> you can do pool like that
<Erkan_Yilmaz> but not solo mining
<ravon_> oki
<customminer> Erkan_Yilmaz: Well, it's a pretty manual process - download target xml gz, transform, load into storage medium then extract specific data & input into your custom transaction.
<Erkan_Yilmaz> ravon but google for this: Cryptsy, Bitcoinica, Shapeshift, Bitfinex, MtGox
<ravon_> ;)
<Erkan_Yilmaz> customminer yeah, when they have done it once, it will be easier
<ravon_> I trust myself, my dogs, kids and hardware less though. Need to read up on how to secure and backup.

<Mercosity> Erkan_Yilmaz: Hello there, how art thou fine fellow Gridcoiner?
<Erkan_Yilmaz> we decided today is lazy Friday :-) and on your side of th eplanet ?
<Mercosity> Erkan_Yilmaz: Well, today is get some score on Wow seti@home day for me. It's embarassing to see a big fat 0 by my name. WUs in for validation but seem to take forever to credit.
<Mercosity> Erkan_Yilmaz: Also, find out why Yafu WUs stick @ 99.99% after running for 50 Hrs.
<Erkan_Yilmaz> so, to get it right, you let run pool WU tasks with SETI solo + had probs, right ?
<Erkan_Yilmaz> 50h is much :-(

<Mercosity> Erkan_Yilmaz: Signed on & discovered that I was running set@home thru the pool so no credit was going to WoW score. Changed and came out of pool to find out that simply detaching in pool site was not enough and had to remove all my ex pool projects in BM and re add them all. Lost a large number of nearly completed WUs but had to be done!
<Mercosity> *seti
<Erkan_Yilmaz> Probbaly just removing the SETI-attached-pool would have sufficed
<Mercosity> Erkan_Yilmaz: To be honest I was getting so little from the pool and so in frequently that I decided I'd leave it. 99% of my GRC have come from my solo mining ( I was doing both at the same time) crunching and tips.
<bubu1sk> ha, slightly overtook Erkan_Yilmaz in number of points/team possition in SETI@Home-Wow :P
<bubu1sk> only by 10 points thought :D
<Mercosity> bubu1sk: You're both doing way better than me though with a big fat 0!!
<bubu1sk> Mercosity: ah, no problem.
<bubu1sk> you're doing well. just not for wow ;)
<bubu1sk> you'll catch us up very soon
<bubu1sk> i bet
<bubu1sk> anyway, we're on 9th position
<bubu1sk> overal as team
<Mercosity> bubu1sk: I'm trying, validation is slow it seems.
<bubu1sk> yes, it takes a while for seti
<bubu1sk> i have 14 finished tasks waiting for validation
<Erkan_Yilmaz> yeeha, 14 will bring us forward more, thx
<bubu1sk> Erkan_Yilmaz: i changed my laptops to do computing for SETI as priority when i joined wow. still got some tasks to finish for WCG thogh
<Erkan_Yilmaz> nice!
<Mercosity> Erkan_Yilmaz: Got my server waiting to go on seti but need to find out why Yafu WUs stick @ 99.99% after running for 50 Hrs and if there's a problem I'll abort it. Yafu WUs do run long though so I'm hoping I won't have to.
<Erkan_Yilmaz> the yafu admin is n/a at the moment, otherwise I'd have recommended to ask him
<Erkan_Yilmaz> :-(
<Mercosity> Erkan_Yilmaz: Sent a pm to yoyo and hoping something will happen soon. hate to waste my server crunching power to abort and get nothing.
<Erkan_Yilmaz> Mercosity: did you check if your "wingman" has finished the task successfully ?
<Mercosity> Erkan_Yilmaz: Sry, Run that by me, don't understand.
<Erkan_Yilmaz> go to your homepage on yafu and find out the WUid from the task you are having probs with:
<[-SaRaFiNa-]> Linked by Erkan_Yilmaz - 404 Not Found
<Erkan_Yilmaz> then you will see that 2 people need to finish a yafu task for both to get the points
<Erkan_Yilmaz> if the other guy finished already, you can see how long he needed with his specific machine
<Erkan_Yilmaz> if he didn't finish yet, perhaps there is a prob with the WU itself
<Mercosity> Erkan_Yilmaz: I'm checking - your link didn't work though. I'm on yafu site on server. wait one.

<Erkan_Yilmaz> yeah, that's why I added the reason behind ;-)
<Erkan_Yilmaz> if all right set up, it can also take 2-4 days ususally to get the first GRC and so
<Erkan_Yilmaz> e.g. for me it took 1 week at begin
<Erkan_Yilmaz> because Gridcoin network had also a problem which had to be fixed
<FoxofSilver> ughhhh
<FoxofSilver> I just want to get this working so I can give my pi cluster something to do
<Erkan_Yilmaz> you can make them do already
<Erkan_Yilmaz> your BOINC work is not lost
<FoxofSilver> right but I have to go through the effort of imaging them all and everything and fuck that if the system isn't fully ready
<Erkan_Yilmaz> as long as the cpid on all BOINC projects is same, all fine
<Erkan_Yilmaz> gridcoin is ready, just slow
<Erkan_Yilmaz> but in this case: the problem is that your boinc data is not yet dsitributed
<FoxofSilver> also, I just run boinc on all the pis and not the wallet, right?
<Erkan_Yilmaz> it is not the fault of gridcoin
<FoxofSilver> who's fault is it then?
<Erkan_Yilmaz> yeah, you need wallet + boinc only on 1 mahcine
<Erkan_Yilmaz> all other machines can just run boinc
<Erkan_Yilmaz> well, your account is not yet 1 day old, it will be that
<FoxofSilver> okay
<FoxofSilver> also, when I add my pis, would it be more beneficial to be in a pool?
<Erkan_Yilmaz> you seem to have lots of machines, thus I'd recommend my essay and then you decide:
<Erkan_Yilmaz> !pool
<GRCB0T> GridCoin.co Pool: http://pool.gridcoin.co/
<fediverse> There are 2 Gridcoin pools: the original one: http://pool.gridcoin.co and http://suchflex.com
<fediverse> A pool helps newcomers, but has also disadvantages (monetary aspects (fee, giving free credit to pool owner, project rain is distributed?), losing your rights (voting), ...)

<[-SaRaFiNa-]> Linked by fediverse - To pool or to solo mine ? — Steemit
<FoxofSilver> I seem to, but don't really have "lots" of machines
<Erkan_Yilmaz> well, you can always just use the pool for 1 or 2 days and then decide
<FoxofSilver> my pi cluster is like, 3 pis, I have a desktop, a laptop, a pi2 I run as a server, and a laptop that's pretty useless and slow and I use it to prop up my keyboard on my bedside
<fediverse> >>> celebrate: we have crossed the 640k blocks milestone !!!
<Erkan_Yilmaz> I have written in the "summary" section why I didn't select pool
<Erkan_Yilmaz> you may have other criteria, so try the pool and later decide
<FoxofSilver> well it all depends on what the pool offers me
<FoxofSilver> maybe the 5% is worth it
<Erkan_Yilmaz> well, payout time for pool1 is normally 2 weeks or even more
<Erkan_Yilmaz> that would mean, you work for the pool for 2 weeks and then get X GRC
<FoxofSilver> and that's another drawback, I dn't like waiting such long periods for payouts
<Erkan_Yilmaz> how much X is
<FoxofSilver> if I could have daily payouts that would be lovely
<Erkan_Yilmaz> not with pools
<Erkan_Yilmaz> pools want to make money off of you
<FoxofSilver> because of the 5% fee, right?
<Erkan_Yilmaz> no, in the 2 weeks they can use the "payout" you should get for own stuff (e.g. staking blocks for themselves)
<Erkan_Yilmaz> when you would get daily payout you could use that for your own staking
<Erkan_Yilmaz> the fee is a constant money decrease already at begin
<Erkan_Yilmaz> you have to adhere to
<Erkan_Yilmaz> the payout delay is a quite bad indirect cost, which i snot yet made so public
<vega40k> hello all gridcoinkers

<customminer> NeuralMiner: Not sure.. one to ask Rob..

<Peppernrino> some projects were unremovable?

<customminer> ravon_: You can delete the local files that boinc projects store on your pc if a project gets stuck, there's probably another method of removing it in a less destructive manner
<startail> You have to detach from the manager first
<startail> After that all projects should be possible to remove
<Peppernrino> oh i think you might have to remove it from your profile on the pool website
<ravon_> So I need to reattach to the old pool, remove project, detach and switch to BAM?
