lgierth: it is not randomly dialing, it is dialing addresses it receives from peers. it's a tradeoff: either you dial people in your local network and connect without going to the isp/backbone, or you don't. we can be smarter though and not dial local addresses in networks we're not part of. BUT if the ips match, computers in LANs do have to dial for best

lgierth: thinking about it more, it may be that the styles don't need to be embedded. Because this is a directory listing generated from a template, by the gateway code itself. It has to pull the styles from somewhere. Embedding will make all the pageloads slower (doesn't leverage http caching).
