jux[m] crypt your data with the keys of authorized people ? :p

<TsT>
have fun ;)
TsT has left #ipfs [#ipfs]
<jux[m]>
it says that people identify a file by its content hash on IPFS, I wonder how people can get that file if it's encrypted.
}ls{ has joined #ipfs
<jux[m]>
weird
<Kythyria[m]>
Consider the result of encryption to be the content.
<r0kk3rz>
they can download it, but its encrypted
<Kythyria[m]>
And yes. You'd have to distribute the key some other way,
<Kythyria[m]>
Consider, for example, the encryption on satellite TV broadcasts: The keys are distributed partly by sending customers smartcards with keys and a decryption module.
<r0kk3rz>
shamirs secret sharing!
f33d has joined #ipfs
<lemmi>
i'd really like for ipfs to integrate encrypted blocks/objects
<lemmi>
which can be decrypted by having the correct parent object
<lemmi>
so people can distribute files, not necessarily knowing what's in there
<jux[m]>
but that way you need a different decryption key for every encrypted file, wow.... that could be a disaster!
<lemmi>
why?
drasko[m] has left #ipfs ["User left"]
<lemmi>
the key would be for the whole tree obviously
<jux[m]>
you can't just manage that many of keys.
<jux[m]>
especially for the data providers
<lemmi>
then i guess it's magic that things like encfs work on many files with a single key
<r0kk3rz>
filecoin plans on doing something like that right?
<lemmi>
this really should be in ipfs. aswell as blockwise compression.

so, how is the installation done in this case?
<NfNitLoop>
So it's trying to hijack that https connection, and it's rightly warning you about that. You could try to get it to trust your corporate proxy's certificate, or try to circumvent that proxy.
<NfNitLoop>
That I don't know, sorry. Maybe someone else has suggestions.

It's unrelated to the markup, it's strictly because it's a long, multiline message, and sending them as-is to IRC would spam the channel and in many cases get you kicked :p

Hi guys
<rungcc_from_work>
so, I'm trying to add my site to my peerID and the command is just taking forever! (ipfs name publish Website/)
<rungcc_from_work>
is this normal? It has been happening since yesterday, at first I though it was something related to my machine (I was running ipfs on a raspberry pi), but today morning I've tried on my desktop PC and the same thing is happening
