<carsonfarmer[m]> Hi iwantipfs I can take a look, but I doubt we have those initial test results saved anywhere. I'm not sure what tools we used to conduct those tests, so I don't think we'd be of much use there... apologies.
<carsonfarmer[m]> Certainly IPFS can consume a lot of resources on mobile, and we've had to spend a lot of time optimizing that part. You can take a look at what we've done here: https://github.com/textileio/textile-mobile. That app is built using our custom framework, generated from: https://github.com/textileio/textile-go. I'm probably not the best one to ask about the specifics of our mobile optimizations, but a lot of it depends on
<carsonfarmer[m]> if the app is running in the foreground, or if it has been backgrounded, woken up from a notification, etc.
<carsonfarmer[m]> Since sharing and posting photos is the primary functionality of the app at the moment, if multiple peers within a thread are online at the same time, they share updates directly, p2p, so you get slightly better performance that way.
<carsonfarmer[m]> Hmm, what else... ah so we use a custom compiled framework in the app (we're hoping to release it as an actual npm module at some point), which contains the full go-ipfs node cross-compiled via gomobile
<carsonfarmer[m]> the app itself is a react-native app, with plenty of native modules under the hood
<carsonfarmer[m]> you should for sure check out the deps we've narrowed in on in that project... its all open source, so feel free to poke around :)
<carsonfarmer[m]> i guess i should also probably mention that its a fast moving project at the moment, so the repo is really the best way to see where we're at on any given quarter 😆
<carsonfarmer[m]> feel free to email me so we don't end up spamming the irc :)
<carsonfarmer[m]> first name @ textile dot io
<iwantipfs[m]> carsonfarmer: Thanks for the answers. Sure, will mail you.

<elux> with ipld, is there a way to have dag.get() fetch a node, and traverse a specified number of edges (aka, number of objects to fetch via traversal)?
<elux> instead of doing a object.get(), checking the obj.prev CID, fetching that, and so forth -- my goal is to make an IPLD structure in the form of a linked-list, and then do a single network request as dag.get() to an object, and have it return a subtree of objects.
<elux> it doesnt need to have any fancy selector logic though, just fetch a portion of the linked-list

<elux> i believe the terminology is "resolving" a node from a link..? im hoping to do the resolve remotely.. i think thats a goal of IPLD? otherwise if not at the network level, then its just client-side stuff..?
