Sooo I'm running LibreELEC on two Pi-3s with a shared mysql DB. Anything I need to know before diving into the upgrade?
<benoliver999>
The rest of the config is pretty standard, videos pull from NFS, no use of addons
<Slane>
upgraded 2 rpi + 1andro + win Pc with shared database via mariadb
<Slane>
no problem so far
<Slane>
also using NFS
<benoliver999>
cool
<benoliver999>
Here goes nothing
<Slane>
I just miss the Titan Skin :(
<benoliver999>
So far so good!
<Slane>
Using base skin ?
<benoliver999>
Yeah
<benoliver999>
Done
<benoliver999>
Remarkably smooth and painless
<benoliver999>
Time to dig out an old controller and get retroarch fired up
<Slane>
I think that Kodi 18 is much faster on Rpi, much reactive
<Slane>
thanks ti Libreelec packaging ;)

hi there. i upgraded from 8.2.5 to 9.0.0 this morning. PVR via tvh lags as hell. i've seen that you can choose different driver sets. but where is the menu for it? i can't find it again. i've enabled the special drivers for DBS but now i want to check the normal kernel drivers to see if the lag is because of them
<TomTom>
i am using the default skin. also the sound output does no longer work. CAESinkALSA::InitializeHW - Unable to find a suitable output format
<TomTom>
Siggi0904: thanks, found it. starting with default drivers, then "newest" kernel ones. i hope the dvb-s2 lag will be gone. tvh does not complain about streaming problems
<Siggi0904>
ok, sounds like, I have to wait for next maintenence release before I'll upgrade. :-)
<TomTom>
Siggi0904: my WAF will be screwed this evening...
<TomTom>
default drivers dont work at all with tvh and tbs-card... neext ;)
<TomTom>
ok, it starts only with the TBS driverset... which lags

ok, looks better now. rechecked the audio-pass tru settings (Did not change anything) set the TBS drivers again. now there is no error about audio out and also there is no problem in streaming. odd
<TomTom>
WAF > 1.. phew!

TomTom: and works? hat's your opinion to the newly LE 9 and kodi 18?
<TomTom>
we will see. LE was my choice since is was forked from openelec, so i am satisfied in general since ages. i still prefer standard TV compared to streaming etc, so i am not the current target audience haha.

lots of the stuff is being covered by newer TVs, so we will see how it develops. i am still missing steam-link in kodi, but valve released some code so it might happen in the future

hey guys is there a way to run a s.m.a.r.t check from librelec? I can SSH in if need be
<DaVu>
smartmontools should be available. Probably as an additional addon named "Systsem tools"
<ca_cabotage>
ah cool, i'll check it out!
<ca_cabotage>
i also just saw that 9.0 is out now - i'll update then check out smartmontools

does the new release support Blu Ray playback? I have a blu-ray drive that I never utilize, was considering throwing it into my libreelec box if it could be put to some use

i see that it needs a key database added to /storage/.config/aacs, is that still true and if so does it actually work well?

guys, im trying to write a libreelec image to an sd card on ubuntu, using etcher, i am donwloading the images from a MEGA link that has a ton of other images, but i am getting an error pretty much all the time when attempting to write the images. I write images daily on this PC, so im wondering what the issue could be?
<Ommand>
these are the official images, not some crap on mega
<ghostboarder>
lol true enough, some background is in order. They were linked in the LE forum
<ghostboarder>
And they are for M8S android boxes
<Ommand>
I'm sure your best avenue of support will be the thread you found them in

ca_cabotage instead of asking over and over again why don't you just try it and find out
fraggle_laptop has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<ca_cabotage>
@Ommand, because I don't want to take two computers apart, put them back together again and troubleshoot when I could try to find someone who has tried this before...... for starters?
<Ommand>
or you could stick a usb stick with LE on it into the one that already has it
<Ommand>
that would take three whole minutes though
* Ommand
shrugs
<Ommand>
"it" being the bluray drive, obviously
<ca_cabotage>
@Ommand, if you don't know the answer lets not chat
<ca_cabotage>
@wonderworld, yeah I have no worries about adding the keys
<ca_cabotage>
@wonderworld, do you know if the implementatino works well or is it really buggy? I've used some other programs in the past (can't remeber which, but commcercial stuff) that felt really buggy with bluray playback - but that was some time ago
<wonderworld>
no, i don't use blueray
<wonderworld>
but the wiki entry looks pretty simple an doesn't mention any issues so i would give it a try?
<ca_cabotage>
@wonderworld, ok no worries, thanks for the feedback though.
<ghostboarder>
just for reference, DOES libreelec have an official rom for android boxes? Or was the thread i was looking at a hacked version
<ca_cabotage>
yeah maybe some day I will, although - given that I don't really use blu rays curently, and it doesn't seem like a popular feature, I'm betting that it doesn't work so hot and prolly won't waste my time
<Ommand>
yea that's my bad ca_cabotage, my solution was far too simple
<Ommand>
bye
<ca_cabotage>
@Ommand, yup, it was - I'm quite aware that I could just figure it out myself - wouldn't be asking for help if I wanted to do that
<wonderworld>
if you want a cheap and hassle-free experience, i would rec a raspberry pi 3
<wonderworld>
works like a charm for me and is very tiny and energy efficient
<wonderworld>
you can tape it to the back of your tv and forget about it
<ghostboarder>
well thats the thing, i installed OSMC on a 3 the other day. I was sure i had done it in the past for a friend with no issues, but it is painfully slow to to find content and to navigate the menus. I was surprised. I dont know if LE has a lighter footprint on Rpi than OSMC but arent they 2 sides of the same coin?
<ghostboarder>
ie they are both distros that are "just enough to run kodi"
