whether you'll want both on a Pi is another story :) I have no experience running TVH, so I don't know how it is on resources
<allizom>
good. I guess I should configure tvheadend from its webinterface, on another box?
<mack->
this information is literally the first hit in a google search, btw
<mack->
step by step on the kodi forum
<allizom>
oh sorry, I just am new to libreelec, I never have used it actually
<mack->
that forum post is a little old, but I see newer ones
<allizom>
thank you, I'll search the kodi forum for more info

hey guys - could I be pointed to some good hardware for running OpenELEC. Everything I see seems to be android.
<orb>
probably some Intel/AMD/Nvidia box would be fine.
<TheTrash>
orb: depends a bit on your decoding preferences, especially high bit rate and/or 4k and/or HDR, but I'm perfectly happy with my Asrock Beebox, it's an older one but there's a more modern one, I think.
<TheTrash>
Intel graphics are probably your best bet right now.
<orb>
I won't be doing 4k, and older is most likely ok, from what I've seen. I have an 8-year-old box that for the most part is running fine performancewise with Libre. It has other issues and I just want to replace it.
<TheTrash>
Very similar to what I'm running right now.. my Beebox is N3000. But I think I got that exact model before my beebox and got very annoyed by the fan noise.
<TheTrash>
Not sure if that was the exact same model, but it was a low-end NUC
<TheTrash>
Beebox is fanless
<orb>
ah
<TheTrash>
The J3455 beebox would pack slightly more punch for the same price, probably. Not sure if the graphics changed for the better, but don't seem to have changed for the worst either.
<orb>
do they run hot?

<TheTrash>
Somewhat... I've had it between my receiver and a glass plate and it started to become a bit unstable, but now I've moved it to the edge so it doesn't get cooked and it's fine. No problems at all if it's free-standing
<TheTrash>
I've had this thing for years, never broke. 100% AAA++ would buy again
<TheTrash>
(seriously)
<oblikoamorale>
IHD 500 does not have HEVC hw accelerated decoding though, does it?
<TheTrash>
Oh really?
<TheTrash>
N3000 does, weirdly enough.
<oblikoamorale>
I might be wrong though :)

<TheTrash>
It would be nice if Intel actually provided specs instead of "Intel HD Graphics 402380000" "InTru" "Clear Video" "Quick Sync"
<oblikoamorale>
anyways nowadays you can pick up a cheap gen7 passive cooling chinese which works fine enough
<oblikoamorale>
*chinese box
<TheTrash>
Should be able to do 10bit HVEC, according to Asrock

<oblikoamorale>
does Clear Video HD adword mean its capable of hevc decoding?
<TheTrash>
Needs 2 sticks of RAM for 4K though.. and I know my N3000 chokes on very high bitrates and 4K, but no idea about J3455. But for regular 1080p HVEC it should be fine, as is mine.
<TheTrash>
No one knows :')

<TheTrash>
Marketing BS for "it does some hardware stuff but we're not telling you exactly what", it's not even the same for all chips.
<TheTrash>
Quick Sync is the decoding/encoding tech, apparently.
<TheTrash>
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Quick_Sync_Video this has a general overview per generation.. of course, on the low end of HD graphics, it's all different, and this thing is missing generations.
<oblikoamorale>
yeah I spoke bullshit, IHD500 is a part of modern enough Apollo Lake, so it's pretty capable except for 10bit support, which was added in IHD600
<TheTrash>
Ahh, the table further down on the page is fairly clear
<oblikoamorale>
nice table. lol 10 bit decoding should work too :)
<TheTrash>
Yeah.. I'd take that with a grain of salt, though.
<TheTrash>
Still need a TV that can actually display that, anyhow.
<TheTrash>
Mine can't.
<TheTrash>
I bought a new TV a few weeks ago.. 1080p :D
<TheTrash>
Sub-$1K 4K TVs are awful
<TheTrash>
Like.. all of them.
<oblikoamorale>
is it capable of 1080P@120Hz :) ?
<oblikoamorale>
I'm wondering if its worth the hdmi 2.0 upgrade
<TheTrash>
According to Sony's marketing wank, it's capable of 200Hz. But since I've turned off all motio compensation BS, that's a clear no.
<TheTrash>
I think the panel is 60Hz
<TheTrash>
But my golden eyes aren't that sensitive to refresh rates beyond 24Hz, as long as stuff is synced properly.
<TheTrash>
The input natively supports 24, 29.97 and 23.98 FPS/refresh rates, which to me is far more important. Though I have to admit, I don't adjust refresh rate in Kodi anymore, whatever interpolation Kodi does is good enough for me.

good evening guys
<hbu347>
Im searching for a way to display on my LE if HDR is anabled or not...
<hbu347>
My tv supports it and my NUC also, but i can´t find a way to actually see if my content is HDR and i have to enable it on my TV or not...
<TheTrash>
Now there's a tricky one
<hbu347>
TheTrash: Which means?

hbu347: it's up to the skin as to what information about the content to display. Either find a skin that presents the information, or edit your skin of choice to provide the label.
<hbu347>
mack-: Didn´t thought of that possibility.
<hbu347>
Do you know if HDR under LE9 on Intel is possible?
