<nashimus>
greetings, new to libreelec here, it appears that support for the Marvell 88SE9235 SATA controller is not present and it is necessary to build a custom version of libreelec. I'm just going off of this forum post: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=7452
<nashimus>
Is anyone out there happily using the Marvell 88SE9235 SATA, or would I save myself a load of grief by just using a USB/SATA solution? Thank you
<nashimus>
Also, I notice tools like lsblk and lspci are not present. I was hoping to configure mount points using the UUID of the drive, so if I change controllers, everything stays the same. Just not sure how to collect diagnostic information without some commands. xD
<nashimus>
looks like the UUID is shown in dmesg
<nashimus>
:D
<lrusak>
nashimus, what hardware are you using?
<nashimus>
rockpro64
<nashimus>
with a I/O Crest 4 Port SATA III PCI-e 2.0 x2 Non RAID Hard Drive Controller Card Marvell 9235 Chipset"
<nashimus>
pcie card
<nashimus>
which is presently removed, using a usb/sata adapter presently
<lrusak>
yikes
<lrusak>
why not use a network based solution?
<nashimus>
making a portable player

portible with a sata pci card and multiple harddrivers? :D
<nashimus>
just a single drive
<nashimus>
was thinking possibly 2, eventually add a second
<nashimus>
using the NAS case for the RockPro64
<lrusak>
why not just get a large SD card? :)
<lrusak>
you really don't need the sata speed to play movies
<nashimus>
it's not speed
<nashimus>
it's capacity
<lrusak>
USB 2.0 is fast enough for that :)
<oblikoamorale>
nashimus: bulding custom LE with whatever drivers you want enabled in kernel config is easy, it't just takes some time

thanks for the responses! :)

also, in case anyone else is curious you can locate the UUID, without lsblk, by using ls /dev/disk/by-uuid

nashimus, you can use blkid

lol
