cool can for sun7i ...
<shineworld>
is compatibile with A20 too ?
<plaes>
no idea
<shineworld>
I will try it on CB1 however
<plaes>
well, that driver needs some cleanups
<shineworld>
I will hope will be published when cleaned :)

hey :). Anyone working on A23 or A31?

<code-ninja>
I'm really stuck at things. The A23 code is not getting build and it shows some very strange errors. The code for A31 does compile but the U-Boot does not compile with CONFIG_SPL set.
<libv>
what hardware do you have?
libcg has joined #linux-sunxi
<libv>
at least me and wens have a23
<libv>
but wens is the only person putting some time in on it
<code-ninja>
I have an A23 as well as an A31s... They are tablets from some unknown Chinese manufacturers vendors
<libv>
code-ninja: have you identified them already?
<code-ninja>
Polaris Tech is the tablet vendor with A23 if that is of any help
<libv>
there are only a few a23 and no a31s tablets on our site
JohnDoe_71Rus has quit [Quit: Miranda IM! Smaller, Faster, Easier. http://miranda-im.org]
<code-ninja>
I saw. None of them are similar to my tablet. That is not a problem actually, I dual booted Debian on an unlisted tablet running A20 (will document soon!), the code is giving me nightmares though.
<libv>
code-ninja: could you then spend some time and document your tablets?
<libv>
code-ninja: this will give you a place to document your findings, as you go along, and might get more people buying and bringing up these devices
<code-ninja>
libv: I will! Surely. I have documented it but I can't find time to structure and finalize it. I've a whole weekend off next week. I'll do it then probably.
<libv>
i have spent a lot of time getting all device pages in line with the standard layout
<libv>
so the structure of documentation is already done for you
<libv>
you just need to copy the template, and fill in the gaps.
<code-ninja>
Yeah, its on my side. My own "how I did this" is not updated, if you know what I mean. About the A23 code, we have to run the build.sh script. Handy but it gives me very strange errors. "Multiple definition of <symbol name>: First defined here <file.c>".
deffrag__ has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<code-ninja>
It compiles smoothly for the A31. It does build the uImage but it shows some errors about undefined symbols in arisc_test.c.

libv: by the way, since these are my work tablets, I won't be able to open it and add serial console or something that involves disassembling the tablet.
<libv>
code-ninja: work tablets?
<libv>
code-ninja: they are from your employer, and you are supposed to bring them up?
<code-ninja>
something like that.
<libv>
tell your boss that serial is a must for device bringup
<libv>
and that he should incur the 200usd or less cost of having a hackable device lying around
<libv>
really, for a23 and a31s you have no way around serial atm
<libv>
for a23 it is very very early days
<libv>
and there's very little that actually works
<code-ninja>
I did tell him about the serial console but I was told that it will take a while (>= 1 month, no one ships to India readily) to get another tablet from the vendor (we get it directly from China).
<ddc>
It mentioned something about sunxi_mem driver
<code-ninja>
I know that the A23 and A31s are very new... anyways, I'll play with the code and submit patches then :)
<libv>
code-ninja: well, tell him that, in that case, this single device will be pretty useless
<code-ninja>
ddc: and...?
<ddc>
Is this driver available for the A10 or just for the A20 and A31
cubear has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds]
<code-ninja>
libv: I know... I have to be so careful about it!
<libv>
code-ninja: what does he expect to do with these tablets?
<libv>
even then, you can say "this is our manually added serial port, the actual devices will not come with this"
<libv>
it's really common sense.
<code-ninja>
libv: we have got a tender. Abstracting the crucial parts, we have to deliver a tablet that can boot a generic Linux (LXDE or anything) alongside Android. Linux is required to be installed on a SD MMC card
<libv>
well, explain the situation again. a23 is very early days, a31s is non-existent. there's no chance of having anything working without serial

I've tried to build it for the A10 but had some errors about some header files not found (mach/includes.h)

libv: for the sake of R&D, I'll tell my "boss" that, but I don't expect much. One thing, the source tar ball to A23 which is here: http://linux-sunxi.org/A23. this is the updated code with support for A23 right? No matter how preliminary.
<libv>
code-ninja: that's 4 months old, and we haven't seen anything new from allwinner since
<libv>
allwinner promised us full u-boot for the first week of march.
<libv>
but then allwinner joined linaro, spent some money and some dead-weight engineers, and felt it had done enough for open source
