nove: ?
<libv>
context?
<nove>
let's fight each other instead of collaboration to resolve the real problem
<nove>
i am sick of this and i have more to worry than sunxi
<libv>
nove: i am really tired of the empty promises we have heard all the time already
<libv>
and i am not willing to believe anyone who comes with promises from $vendor and no code or anything to back it up
<libv>
i am not willing to settle for yet another such case
<nove>
jemk, i am really sorry, really sorry, but i can do anything if this doesn't change
<libv>
especially given the amount of noise being made right now
<nove>
jemk, i am really sorry, really sorry, but i can't do anything if this doesn't change
<libv>
and i am sick and tired of people going with it each and every time without even a hint of suspicion
gianMOD has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
<libv>
a lot of people seem quite incapable of learning
<libv>
and i find it personally quite insulting that $vendor believes it can get away with just noise
<libv>
but given that people go along with it, $vendor might be right to treat us like fools who are incapable of learning
<libv>
hence, code instead of vacuous promises for a change.

I fail to comprehend how copying u-boot would not bork the already present partitions and so
<leviathancn>
nove: I think the best is to just do not listen to any *mimimi* and just hack ahead with anything we actually get from my new friends as soon as we get it..
<leviathancn>
they are really interested into having me working for them so they won't mess around with my trust I believe
<nove>
leviathanch: i am sorry, but i also understand libv concerns, and i am waiting to see how serious is allwinner this time
<leviathancn>
nove: yes, me too, because I'm also dependant onto their effective cooperation
<nove>
leviathanch: fight each other, will not make us all winner
<leviathancn>
it's my bachelors thesis
<leviathancn>
this foss board
<leviathancn>
so I really require these infos
<leviathancn>
as you've seen, I didn't actually jump into a flamewar
<leviathancn>
I just wanted to inform people
<leviathancn>
about what the Allwinner folks told me
<nove>
leviathanch: hardware is really cool, but is more really cool to have software that allow us to use the hardware
<leviathancn>
yeah, they promised me to hand me the required information with a handshake, face to face, and I usually notice if someone is lying into my face
<nove>
leviathanch: yes, you are bring us good news, but because of pass experiences we need to time to believe
<rellla>
nove: "not make us all winner" < +1
<leviathancn>
nove: I totally understand that of course
<leviathancn>
that's why I didn't even react onto these agressive bombardments
<leviathancn>
nove: "don't kill the messenger" ^^
<leviathancn>
anyway
<leviathancn>
we have to wait now until the year of the sheep has fully began
<nove>
leviathanch: the messenger should not chance the message
<nove>
leviathanch: and the message is that we can't help allwinner if the gpl violation arent resolved
<leviathancn>
nove: yes
<leviathancn>
I'm aware of this
<nove>
leviathanch: that is what we ask from you
<nove>
leviathanch: okay
<nove>
leviathanch: thanks for this
<leviathancn>
we have internally two groups, one part is very proud of thei SDK and would like to stick to it because they have put a lot of work into it
<leviathancn>
another group is on my side and thinks it's inevitable to drop all the blobs because of the maintainance requirements
<leviathancn>
all the ones who thinks mainlining is a good idea in the company is on board with my free tablet project because they thinks it's cool because they've never done something like that before
<leviathancn>
I explained to them why Cubietech sold so many boards and they didn't
<leviathancn>
by showing the cubie schematics
<leviathancn>
openess is an advantage on the market
<plaes>
are you in CN?
<nove>
leviathanch: remenber, if allwinner is having so much trouble to handle this, how luck of them to have as kernel maintaner on employer of free-electrons
<nove>
leviathanch: maybe should consider contract free-electrons services and send mripard_ some time to china
<ssvb>
plaes: and check Mode Registers MR0/MR1/MR2/MR3
<ssvb>
plaes: they are configured as SDR_MR/SDR_EMR/SDR_EMR2/SDR_EMR3
<ssvb>
plaes: yes, the naming is a bit inconsistent, but I guess this happened historically
<ssvb>
plaes: first there was the 'mode register'
<ssvb>
plaes: then they added the 'extended mode register'
<ssvb>
plaes: and then two more
<plaes>
hehe
<ssvb>
plaes: in the DDR3 spec they are just numbered from 0 to 3 :)
<ssvb>
plaes: that's the JEDEC invention, not Allwinner's or DRAM controller implementer's
<ssvb>
plaes: I'll add some clarifications to the wiki
<plaes>
thanks

i have /boot on nanda

I'm following the wiki and I'm trying to make a debian sd card
<Turl>
err vovcia ^ for the last one
<Turl>
viccuad: yeah but I don't understand the question you made?
<viccuad>
in that step, it uses the device name for a cubitruck, yet I have an A20 Lime
<viccuad>
Turl: And I can't find the device list. It's not on the debootstrapped mounted filesystem at /usr/share/flash-kernel/db/all.db, as stated in the wiki
<viccuad>
nor in my debian testing amd64 host, and I can't find anything using google
<Turl>
viccuad: make sure you have the flash-kernel package installed
<viccuad>
Turl: doh..
<vovcia>
Turl: unless internal nand expanded to 37G im 100% sure im on sda
<vovcia>
Turl: after reboot its still here.. # mount: /dev/nand3 on / type ext4 (rw,relatime,discard,data=ordered)
<Turl>
vovcia: maybe your device nodes are just named funnily?
<vovcia>
i just checked i dont even have /dev/nand3 only proper devices nanda nandb nandc nand sda sda1
<Turl>
ls -la them and check the major-minors
<vovcia>
they are perfectly norma;l
<vovcia>
i even have mounted /dev/nanda to /boot
<vovcia>
nand are 93,[0123] and sda are 8,[01]
<viccuad>
Turl: thanks
<vovcia>
its only mount command that shows weird device in df and others there is only /dev/root (and i dont have /dev/root in system)
<vovcia>
system boots and run fine (as fine as Arch Linux can run;)
