atsampson: at least EMR1=0x04 seems to be better than EMR1=0x06 and EMR1=0x40
<ssvb>
atsampson: oh, but these were from different boards...
<ssvb>
atsampson: anyway, this looks like a great start
<ssvb>
atsampson: and you even have two boards to compare whether they show the same behavior with the same dram settings
<ssvb>
atsampson: I don't have such a luxury myself (only one board of each kind here)
<atsampson>
ssvb: the other thing I'd noticed was that tpr3=0 seems to be about the worst choice at any speed - I'm not surprised they couldn't get it to work at 480MHz... ;-)

I was wondering if the diagonal stripes are indicative of anything; at any particular delay it's cycling between being OK and not OK

atsampson: it looks like there are two disconnected isles of green, one in the top left corner, and another in the bottom right corner

at low enough clock speeds they seem to connect
<ssvb>
you probably might want to consider tuning parameters to target each of these isles independently
<ssvb>
they could represent local maximums, and one of them may be better than the other in the end (if you move to even higher dram clock speeds)

Does anyone know, if it is possiple to make a A20 board to act like a printer, so printing jobs would be sent to the device trough usb? I would like to fecth data instead of printing it. I currently have g_mass_storage working on otg port. I found somethig called CUPS, but I dont know if it will let me send print jobs to the device trough usb.
<lukas2511>
you could set it up as usb gadget network interface and run cups as network printer software on the device, storing print jobs as pdf or something
<lukas2511>
it should also be possible to write a real usb printer gadget driver, but i don't think anybody did that yet
<el3>
lukas2511: okey. Usually the machine prints outh the measurements made, if any usb printer is connectet to its usb port.
<NiteHawk>
i take it that you want to pretend you're a (usb) printer. cups is a printing system that outputs to a variety of 'backend' devices. it doesn't do the "receiving" that you seem to have in mind
<el3>
NiteHawk: true, I want to make it act like a usb printer
<el3>
so the network printer would not work?
iamfrankenstein has quit [Quit: iamfrankenstein]
<NiteHawk>
what network printer? you were talking about the OTG port (connecting the A20 locally to the usb output of your "machine")
<el3>
the other machine shall do the print as normal. But I guess it will only do it, if it see there is a printer connected

NiteHawk: Do I need the modprobe net2280 ? I got g_printer on the kernel. And found the g_printer printer when atached to a Ubuntu machine
<NiteHawk>
el3: afaik no. the net2280 is a hardware-specific driver that provides the Linux USB Gadget API. presumably the a20 does it in a different way (either a module too, or maybe compiled into the kernel)?
bsdfox has joined #linux-sunxi
<el3>
NiteHawk: Okey the printer is added to the ubuntu machine now. But when I try any of the commands, from the code below, I get Error -1 opening /dev/g_printer

<el3>
yea
<NiteHawk>
which might indicate that support for this kind of device/gadget isn't complete
<el3>
ok
<NiteHawk>
but actually i have no personal experience with these usb gadget functions, so maybe i'm on a wrong track here. i'd try to google for that error message and possible solutions
pmattern has quit [Quit: Genug für heute.]
<el3>
okey thank you. Maybe it depends on another module
<NiteHawk>
it might also depend on the usb actually being connected to a host. make sure you connect the a20 to your 'printing' pc before the modprobe...
<el3>
wow I made the test print, and a bunch of data was written to terminal. But it is all strange letters
<el3>
I am getting closer tough
<NiteHawk>
\o/
<el3>
Okey I changed the printer driver in ubuntu to generic postscript. now I get better output on the test
<NiteHawk>
that's expected. the data you receive depends on the printer driver in use (on the sending side). maybe you have a "teletype" or "text-only" printer available?
cubear has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<el3>
yes I got. but no output.
<el3>
But I need to test it on the printers avalable on the other device. There are some SPL and PCL printers avalable
