<DocScrutinizer05> hmmm >>suitable custom ROM with Qualcomm DIAG driver<< https://opensource.srlabs.de/projects/snoopsnitch
<bencoh> "suitable" ?
<bencoh> is that the right link ?
<DocScrutinizer05> hm?
<DocScrutinizer05> I'm spamming random trivia about what I'm currently checking. I try to find out what our modem would need to support to be compatible to snoopsnitch or a similar approach
<bencoh> yeah but ... that's an app, not a "rom"
<bencoh> oh, okay
<DocScrutinizer05> seems qualcom left a massive amount of engineering/debug code in their firmware, and I try to find out what exactly is the data that snoopsnitch is using from that and whether our modem also will provide it
<DocScrutinizer05> traditionally Siemens (successor of Cinterion, then Gemalto) was one of the first to have an engineering mode in their mobile phones
<DocScrutinizer05> s/successor/ancestor/
<DocScrutinizer05> snoopsnitch is an app that needs >>suitable custom ROM with Qualcomm DIAG driver<<

<silviof> DocScrutinizer05: is the graphic "We are here" on http://neo900.org/#news up to date?
<DocScrutinizer05> hardly
<DocScrutinizer05> well, almost. in relation to parts orders (blue blob), but for sure it's not to scale in any way
<silviof> maybe you shpould it update?!
<DocScrutinizer05> reality is too complex for such diagram
<silviof> The peoples comes to this website and see this graphic. ... smells bad :-)
<silviof> than simplify it
<DocScrutinizer05> you just look at the simplified reality
<DocScrutinizer05> :-)
<silviof> yes - its my job as customer :-)
<DocScrutinizer05> the problem is that we don't have a linear process here
<silviof> i know this, you know this... the viewer of the page doesnt know this. tell him where the project is
<DocScrutinizer05> to really show what's going on we'd need a 6 dimensions at least, instead of 2
<ccnnjj> "so unique" ... "so" is unnecessary there
<DocScrutinizer05> we had quite a lengthy discussion about that diagram, and this was what we finally agreed upon. Not that I'm really happy with it. But we didn't find a better way to transport some info about project progress
<silviof> so let change the arrow to a slide-0bar ore something like that. ... but update it, please. :-)
<DocScrutinizer05> if you have a better one, please go ahead offer it
<DocScrutinizer05> update to what? it been updated like 4 weeks ago iirc
<DocScrutinizer05> since then reality didn't substantially change that much, to warant a new update
<DocScrutinizer05> this diagram is as accurate as it gets
<DocScrutinizer05> unless you modify it to look totally different
<DocScrutinizer05> when you say it looks bad we probably should remove it all together
<silviof> We are not in the purchase time period?
<DocScrutinizer05> hmm?
<silviof> (I thooght this)
<silviof> *thought
<DocScrutinizer05> that's the problem, we have no linear process
<DocScrutinizer05> reality is more complex than this diagram
<silviof> so my suggestion is to put a bar, that you see we are somnewhere here and there ... instead arrow
<DocScrutinizer05> sorry you lost me
<silviof> :-)
<silviof> Let me change the graphic
<silviof> I need some time
<silviof> mom
<DocScrutinizer05> we're in the "partial orders" phase, immediately before blue "case parts" dot. Partial orders should probably be named preorders or down-payment
<DocScrutinizer05> we actually did some of the "risk parts" sourcing (other blue dot left side) but more is pending which isn't in the diagram
<DocScrutinizer05> so the "we are here ^ " is pretty accurate
<DocScrutinizer05> even the green dots for prototypes fit, we start building proto_v3 now
<DocScrutinizer05> actually Nikolaus announced he's available 95% of his time for Neo900 starting from 1st of next month
<silviof> Who is nikolaus?
<silviof> I have changed it: http://picpaste.com/zKwuZZHF.png
<DocScrutinizer05> we hope to have a proto_v3 and a proto_v4 (the two green dots right to "where we ^ are now") and then start production and collect final orders
<silviof> but okay - I know this graphiocs long time now, And my feeling is they have never changed.
<DocScrutinizer05> http://neo900.org/faq#who Golden Delicious
<DocScrutinizer05> well, the graphics not changing is a *good* thing since it means the project plans didn't change either
<DocScrutinizer05> you understand that this is a timeline and "we are here ^" marks the present point we are at?
<silviof> What I have saied before: I know this graphiocs long time now, And my feeling is they have never changed.
<silviof> :-)
<DocScrutinizer05> what I said before: you expect it to change? WHY?
<DocScrutinizer05> this graphics show the planned project from start to finish, and it changing would mean there's something odd in the project
<DocScrutinizer05> left side of the graph is past, right side is future
<DocScrutinizer05> for now the past performed as expected and our plans didn't change either
<DocScrutinizer05> btw 404 no pic here
<DocScrutinizer05> my feeling: you don't even notice the http://wstaw.org/m/2015/08/25/plasma-desktopEL1947.png part and how it changes
<DocScrutinizer05> which actually has been one of my concerns with that diagram
<DocScrutinizer05> wpwrak: ^^^
<DocScrutinizer05> wpwrak: dos1: the "let's keep everythign short and as static as possible" approach isn't panning out for web frontpages
<DocScrutinizer05> people don't even realize our updates, even *if* we do update
<DocScrutinizer05> we need to change wallpapers and layout frequently so people realize "someting happens"
<DocScrutinizer05> man isn't made for manual "diffs" of huge graphic content, particularly when the diff is versus a memory
<DocScrutinizer05> the webpage looks like it's "dead" even if we'd update news twice every week

<DocScrutinizer05> silviof: please try again to provide your alternative suggestion picture. I want to learn what you want to see there :-)
<DocScrutinizer05> silviof: http://picpaste.com/zKwuZZHF.png doesn't work for me

<DocScrutinizer05> wpwrak: how about clearly visible 2timelines" (literally) in the diagram, from top to bottom. Not only a "we are here" timeline (with added date "2015-08-01") but also e.g. for proto_v4 (4th green dot) with date tag "2015-12" and for "Purchases Parts" (3rd blue dot) with date tag like 2016-01
<DocScrutinizer05> "Production PCB,SMT,Test" (1st red) also "2016-01"
<DocScrutinizer05> etc
<DocScrutinizer05> (date tags) or whatever is our recent schedule

<wpwrak> (change things just such that they change) i think you'll fine more people who hate that than people who like it. you're not the first one to have such ideas :)
<wpwrak> i could move the arrow a little, towards the end of the preorder period, though
<wpwrak> mmh. and the source is another case of internal vs. public drift :( fixing ....
<DocScrutinizer05> (change things just such that they change) not suggesting that, I just say we need more radical updates that don't just move a tiny arrow a few millimeters/pixels but actually make a noticeable *difference* for anybody visiting the page again after a few weeks
<DocScrutinizer05> when you notice there *is* a difference, you will search to find what _actually_ changed. When you see something that looks identical then you think "meh, no updates, page dead"
<wpwrak> in any case, this is really means to show things only at the highest level. getting into more details could can also quickly turn into requiring quite a lot of work, especially if you want to that that continuously.
<DocScrutinizer05> yep, I know and I tried to explain this to silviof
<DocScrutinizer05> but I still wonder what type of misconception happened there. So hoping for him uploading his alternative png suggestion again
<DocScrutinizer05> >>it is the “secret city” where uranium- 235 was extracted for the first atomic bomb. A sign near the exit read: what you see here, what you do here, what you hear here, when you leave here, let it stay here. Today, not far from where that sign stood, Oak Ridge is home to the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and it’s engaged in a new secret war. But this time, instead of a bomb of almost unimaginable power,
<DocScrutinizer05> the weapon is a computer of almost unimaginable speed.<<
<DocScrutinizer05> >>“a lot of foreign government stuff we’ve never been able to break is 128 or less. Break all that and you’ll find out a lot more of what you didn’t know—stuff we’ve already stored—so there’s an enormous amount of information still in there.”<<
