<tankf33der> http://ix.io/2jog
<tankf33der> got correct result at least.
<beneroth> congrats!
<beneroth> wow nice short code
* Nistur has just completed lesson Q3 in gtypist, meaning the only lettrs left to practice with penti are mwvzxbq... I'm nowhere near as fast at typing the other letters as on my big keyboard... but I'm not too far behind me typing on this silly little one
<Nistur> and actually fewer errors also
<Nistur> of course, Q is just the 'quick' qwerty course, there's a long one, and then some drills and trials I could do
* beneroth is most times faster with penti than the standard touch keyboards on mobile
<beneroth> (of course no comparison to real computer keyboard)
<beneroth> I think Regenaxer is actually better & faster at typing with Penti than an usual computer keyboard :-)
<beneroth> Nistur, how is the family?
<Nistur> yeah, it will take a loooooong time with me practicing to be better than a full size proper nice keyboard...
<Nistur> it might happen, but right now, I'm happy enough that I can use it well enough to justify trying to make a physical one :P I'm going to continue practicing and seeing how things go
<beneroth> the original one from Regenaxer is physical
<beneroth> he had a linux driver version for a while, using just the number block as a keyboard
<Nistur> family is good. We're lucky to have a big enough house, nice garden, and nice allotment, so that staying inside barely bothers us at all. We are allowed out once per day for exercise etc, so MrsNistur has been taking MiniNisturette out for a walk during the day (only about 30mins) and I went out this evening shopping... which is still a bloody surreal experience
* beneroth misses the N900, it had a great physical keyboard (Nokia Linux Smartphone, before the Microsoft mole became their CEO)
<beneroth> Nistur, how much Gibson have you read? :)
<Nistur> yeah, I have had several smartphones with full qwerty keyboards, which were nice. I detest touchscreens, but no choice these days
<beneroth> same
<Nistur> "read" --- none. I've listened to... Neuromancer and Pattern Recognition as audiobooks though
<beneroth> ah nice
<beneroth> yeah Neuromancer is great
<Nistur> assuming you meant that Gibson :D
<beneroth> of course, I don't read guitars :)
<Nistur> ;)
<Nistur> I didn't know if there were other authors
<Nistur> I enjoyed Pattern Recognition as a story too, but the audiobook was annoying, as the main character was American, the narrator was too... but it was mostly set in UK, and the narrator did awful british accents for the other characters, and butchered some placenames and character's names
<beneroth> I recommend you the Bridge trilogy... "Virtual Light, "Idoru" and "All Tomorrow's Parties". it's the same/similar world as Neuromancer, but other settings, less noir in some ways.
<Nistur> like, Bournemouth, which should be pronounced born-muth, they called born-ee-mowth
<beneroth> Nistur, sounds just like the Jumanji game voice acting :P
<beneroth> oh
<Nistur> ;)
<beneroth> maybe worse ;-)
<Nistur> I quite like Noir :P
<beneroth> same
<beneroth> well there is still a lot noir in it
<beneroth> but more jokes
<beneroth> a bit more Snow Crash athmosphere, without the ironic parody touch
<Nistur> I don't really have time to read these days. My 'free time' is spent either programming, or doing other projects, hence the audiobooks
<beneroth> I don't have the time for audio books, except when cooking or doing laundry or so
<beneroth> cannot listen to audio books while programming
<beneroth> and I read a lot faster than I can listen
<Nistur> no, not while programming but more physical projects I can
<beneroth> yeah
<Nistur> I rebuilt a shed recently, and got through a lot while doing that
<Nistur> currently I'm listening to the complete Sherlock Holmes, read by Stephen Fry
<beneroth> oh Fry is funny and bright
<beneroth> probably a good story telling voice?
<Nistur> he's very good
<Nistur> one of the best audiobook voice actors I've heard
<Nistur> and I've maxed out the stats on my audible account, so I've heard a few :D
<beneroth> Virtual Light world has seen some viruses and pandemics.. it's not a main topic, but just a thing in the world. mostly AIDS was a problem (book is from the early 90s), but also other stuff. in the beginning there is a short scene where a side-character stays in Mexiko city, gets bored, and gets outside with mask and protection gear to take a stroll in the city. just like current lockdown situation.
<beneroth> I just reread this book :)
<Nistur> total listening time of 2 months, 9 days 23 hours 45 minutes :D
<Nistur> Hmmm, I'll put it on my wish list
<Nistur> I've got a few on there already :P
<Nistur> but right now I think it's time for me to start heading slowly to bed
<beneroth> main protagonist is a clever but somewhat dumb (not very bright but good heart) policemen.. who uses to end up in fucked up situation, e.g. killing a drug addict who took his wife and their children hostage, and then the wife sues poor Rydell for it
<beneroth> and cyberpunky style there is of course a tv show about such guys which plans to help Rydell :)
<beneroth> which of course doesn't turn out really well for him
<beneroth> alright
<beneroth> good night, have some good sleep :)
<Nistur> I'll try :P
<Nistur> you too
<Nistur> g'night
