<Lord_Nightmare> Foone: those square fuse holders ring all sorts of alarm bells in my head
<Lord_Nightmare> iirc there's a type of square littelfuse fuse holder used on the aim-65 and a few other places which is 100% impossible to replace; the inserts cannot be found anywhere
<Lord_Nightmare> you have to use washers to turn the square holes round and use a screw in or bayonet fuse holder as a replacement for those
<Lord_Nightmare> it might be possible to 3d-print new inserts
<Lord_Nightmare> I think
<Lord_Nightmare> that's the first time i've ever seen one for sale with the insert
<Lord_Nightmare> so i guess now they CAN be replaced

<Foone> Lord_Nightmare: ooh, fun! that's not great news.
<Foone> thankfully I'm not really planning on using those power supplies. they're old and also they'd be a nightmare to actually use
<Foone> but that's definitely something to worry about if I get to the point of doing a museum-quality restoration of it
<Lord_Nightmare> honestly, just bodge in a screw fuse temporarily, or get one of the ebay fuse holders if that's what the original holder was
<Lord_Nightmare> when i was fixing the aim-65 those holders were not available
<Lord_Nightmare> now someone seems to have dug up a lot of them
<Lord_Nightmare> possibly from the closing of the various SF recyclers
