ChanServ changed the topic of ##yamahasynths to: Channel dedicated to questions and discussion of Yamaha FM Synthesizer internals and corresponding REing. Discussion of synthesis methods similar to the Yamaha line of chips, Sound Blasters + clones, PCM chips like RF5C68, and CD theory of operation are also on-topic. <Lord_Nightmare> Foone: the font for among us that you ripped, was that encoded as an SDF packed into the R, G, B and A channels of a texture atlas?
<Lord_Nightmare> someone mentioned SDF font rendering on hacker news and that made me discover this stuff, its an interesting hack involving threshholding, I think
<Lord_Nightmare> and I'm guessing that's the "trick" they use in a shader to generate the character borders
<Lord_Nightmare> https://github.com/Chlumsky/msdfgen allows for some even more clever tricks in that regard, but this isn't what among us used
<Lord_Nightmare> where extra data about angle of edges is encoded in the RGB part of the data
<Lord_Nightmare> all of this is cute, but there's tech for more clever on-gpu font rendering but it's been patented

washbear is now known as nia
<Foone> Lord_Nightmare: I believe so? I didn't really use it as is, I switched to screen-ripping
