so after successfully reading one (1) CF card my "SmartQ"-branded CF card reader won't read any more, even though it recognizes I put one in

what's a good brand of CF card reader anymore? I don't recognize *any* of the brands that are currently selling them on amazon, except for sandisk and lexar, which are both charging $50 for some reason
