binhex <= 4.0 uses .hqx files

its a format called "NDIF" which cannot be parsed properly by applesauce

ndif is the disk copy 6 format. it is lossy (iirc it doesn't copy sectors that are not part of a file) and it stores most of its data in the resource fork, which often gets lost

so its a terrible preservation format

...ok, applesauce CAN open ndif files, but only in the analyzer, not in the disk writer. i think that's actually a bug, lemme report that
