<balrog> andlabs: iirc those were licensed
<balrog> "Eventually, the suppliers included Fujifilm, Verbatim, Toshiba and Maxell, Epson and NEC. NEC also produced a licensed 100 MB drive model with its brand name."
<Zorix> wonder if my drive still works, they are known for high failure rates
<andlabs> heh
<andlabs> and I'd say "if it's an early one then it's more likely to work" but
<andlabs> I thought there wwere zip drives in 1990
<andlabs> adrian black's recent mail call vidoe implies otherwise
<Zorix> mine is from around 1995 or 96
<Zorix> parallel port version

<andlabs> https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/nAMAAOSwyNVgb2Cn/s-l1600.jpg weird molding around floppy drive
<balrog> andlabs: huh yeah it's weird molding
<balrog> that said this is a later Apple style floppy drive, the machine is a Mac clone
<balrog> (mid-90s, when Apple licensed their tech for a few years)
<andlabs> yeah
<balrog> the later Apple drives have a flap and the eject hold is below the slot
<balrog> those are not Sony anymore
<balrog> they kinda suck =)
