for the logs, I have an idea for a webapp: OpenStreetMaps, full map data and client UI over IPFS. A universal hash stores every map, then continents, then countries, then states(subdivisions of countries), and then counties(subdivisions of subdivisions of countries)
<conway>
Users would retain maps they find important. Given critical mass, the maps would propigate between users and fufill a complete maps solution. Some servers could pin countries/continents/whole earth.

dignifiedquire: ipld spec allows links with paths too. The canonical representation is fully qualified ("/ipfs/<hash>/<path>") but is abbreviated in CBOR to just the hash value when only "/ipfs/<hash>". And "<hash>" is understood to mean "/ipfs/<hash>"
<dignifiedquire>
jbenet: oh ok thanks for clarifying, the spec should probably updated to make that a bit clearer

<nicolagreco>
thanks jbenet dignifiedquire
<nicolagreco>
I will want to give a new pass to the spec while dignifiedquire is working on implementing it (and hopefully will align with the others)
<TomasBond_>
where should i put this command?
<TomasBond_>
dnslink=/ipns/<your peer id>
<TomasBond_>
in ipfs? in dns server?
<TomasBond_>
Once you're convinced that works, lets again hide the hash. Change your DNS TXT record to dnslink=/ipns/<your peer id>, wait for that record to propogate, and then try accessing http://localhost:8080/ipns/your.domain

Kubuxu: one cool thing about the change is that you can grab github.com/whyrusleeping/mss-nc and connect to your ipfs node manually
<parkan>
hey jbenet do you happen to have a current-ish version of the libp2p/protocols encompassed by IPFS slide? (with all the boxes) trying to add it to a blog post that expands on my presentation + our friday chat
<alu>
whats the best resource available right now for TLDR explanations of IPFS
<alu>
that I can explain to nontechnicals? I usually refer to kyledrake's neocities announcement because of its arguments about HTTP
<Kubuxu>
weird I can't build go-ipfs-git on my notebook, I built it on dedi w/o a problem..
